The North Queensland Broomball Association (NQBA) is the governing body for broomball in north Queensland, Australia. It is based in the city of Townsville and is a founding member of the national body, Broomball Australia.

Broomball

Broomball is a recreational ice game originating in Canada and played in certain other countries. It is played in a hockey rink, either indoors or outdoors, depending on climate and location.

Queensland North-east state of Australia

The NQBA is a not-for-profit organisation that was formed in 1992, the third incorporated broomball club in Australia after the Broomball Association of South Australia and Australian Capital Territory Broomball Association. Broomball had been played in Townsville since the late 1980s.

Broomball Association of South Australia (BASA) is one of five members of Broomball Australia. Commencing in 1981, the current league playing at thebarton comprises both a mixed division and a men's division. The mixed division contains eight teams, while the men's contains four.

As at August 2006 the club has around 120 members, both male and female, ranging in age from 8 to 70. Three divisions are played in local competition: A Grade (elite), B Grade (intermediate), and C Grade (social, beginners and juniors). Training sessions are also run from time to time.

All local competition games are played at the Warrina Ice Rink in the Townsville suburb of Currajong.

Currajong is a suburb of the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It had a population of 2,628 in 2011 census.

The organisation is run by an Executive Committee consisting of seven members. All administrators and officials within the association are also current players.

The NQBA represents the state of Queensland at the annual Australian National Broomball Championships; the state representative squad is the Queensland Cyclones.

The Australian National Broomball Championships is an annual broomball tournament, held in various cities across Australia, to determine Australia's national champions. The tournament is organised by the national governing body for the sport, Broomball Australia.

Queensland Cyclones

The Queensland Cyclones are an Australian broomball team, representing the state of Queensland at the Australian National Broomball Championships.

Seasons

As of 2006, the NQBA runs two playing seasons per year, called the Summer and Winter seasons. The summer season generally runs between January to June, while the winter season operates between July and December.

Champions

Each season there is a round robin competition, where every team in each division plays against each other an equal number of times. At the end of the round robin season, the final standings are used to determine those teams that qualify for the play-offs (or finals). The winners of the play-offs are crowned champions.

North Queensland Cowboys rugby league football club

The North Queensland Cowboys are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Townsville, the largest city in North Queensland. The Northern Division of the Queensland Rugby League is responsible for administering the game of rugby league in North Queensland, specifically in the area from Sarina in the south to Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands in the north and west to Mount Isa as well as into the Gulf Communities. There are over 8000 registered players across 36 senior clubs and 39 junior clubs in this division. The Northern Division is responsible for the historic Foley Shield competition that is held each year. Mid West and Mount Isa play in the Toyota Outback Carnival.

Football NSW organization

Football NSW is the governing body for soccer in the Australian state of New South Wales with the exception of the northern regions of NSW. Football NSW is a member of the national governing body, the Football Federation Australia. Football NSW's premier football competition is the National Premier Leagues NSW. The premier futsal competition is the Futsal Premier League. Prior to 1 April 2007, Football NSW was known as Soccer NSW.

2008 NRL season

The 2008 NRL season was the 101st season of professional rugby league club competition in Australia, and the eleventh run by the National Rugby League. For the second year, sixteen teams competed for the 2008 Telstra Premiership title. The season commenced with the first matches played on 14 March and ended with the Grand Final, played on 5 October. The premiership was won by the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles who set the record for the highest Grand Final victory in Australia's rugby league history.
