The Northern Cape Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs is one of the departments of the Government of the Northern Cape. It is responsible for the oversight of municipalities and housing developments within the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The political head of the department is the MEC (Member of the Executive Council); as of 2018, this is Bentley Vass. [1]

Bentley Gavin Vass is a South African politician who has been the Northern Cape MEC forCooperative Governance, Human Settlements, Traditional Affairs, Transport, Safety and Liaison since June 2024. He was previously the MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from February 2018 until June 2024. He was sworn in as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in October 2017. Vass is a member of the African National Congress and the party's deputy provincial chairperson.

Limakatso Alfonsina Koloi is a South African politician. She is a member of the African National Congress and is currently a Northern Cape Provincial Legislature member She took office as an MPL on 22 May 2019. She is the Deputy Chair of Chairs and the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs. Koloi was previously the Executive Mayor of the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality.

Tsietsi Peter Nyoni is a South African politician and a member of the African National Congress (ANC) who currently serves as the Deputy Director-General for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. He previously served as one of the executive directors for the Mpumalanga Human Settlements Department until he was removed in 2013 from the position by then Premier David Mabuza. He was appointed to head the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the province in August 2016 until February 2020 when current Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane made him the provincial government's Deputy Director-General.

Alvin Botes is a South African African National Congress (ANC) politician from the Northern Cape who has been serving as the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since May 2019. He became a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in February 2018.

Mosimanegare Kenneth Mmoiemang is a South African politician who has been a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. He is a member of the Northern Cape delegation. He was the provincial MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from 2009 to 2013 and the speaker of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2013 to 2019. Mmoiemang is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).

Mmoloki Saviour Cwaile is a South African politician who served as the North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from November 2020 to August 2021. A member of the African National Congress, he has been a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since February 2019. Cwaile had previously served as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs in the legislature.

Zolile Monakali is a South African educator and politician who served as the Northern Cape MEC for Education and a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2020 until 2024. Prior to serving in the provincial government, he was the Executive Mayor of the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality. Monakali is a member of the African National Congress and the party's Pixley ka Seme regional chairperson.

Nomathemba Emily Mokgethi is a South African politician who served as the Gauteng Health MEC from 2020 to 2022 and has been a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since 2018. She was the provincial MEC for Social Development between June and December 2020. Mokgethi is a member of the African National Congress.

Princess Sibuyiselwe Angela Buthelezi was a South African politician. The daughter of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Inkosi of the Buthelezi clan and Prince and Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu people, she served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Inkatha Freedom Party from 2021 until her death in 2024. In the National Assembly she sat on the tourism, cooperative governance and traditional affairs, human settlements, and the water and sanitation portfolio committees.

Agatha Wilhelmina Cilliers is a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. She is a member of the Democratic Alliance. She was previously a DA councillor in the Merafong City Local Municipality.

Xolile Edmund Nqatha is a South African politician who has been the Eastern Cape MEC for Transport and Community Safety since 2022. A member of the African National Congress, he has been a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since 2009. Nqatha served as the MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform from 2018 to 2019 and as the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2019 to 2022. He is also the provincial secretary of the South African Communist Party.

Speedy Katisho Mashilo is a South African politician who is currently the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Human Settlements, Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Mpumalanga, as well as both the deputy provincial chairperson and acting provincial treasurer of the local branch of the African National Congress (ANC).
