Nuevo Leon State Highway 1 Spur (NL 1)is a connector road that connects the Colombia, Nuevo Leon area with NL 1. Before its construction travelers / commercial traffic from the Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge had to travel south via Fed-2 and pass through Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to go to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

It is known for becoming recently a heavy industrialized city. As of 2019, the city houses 70% of the industrial plants of the state of Nuevo León. Apodaca is as well the fourth most exporting city in México. The municipality has an area of 224.7 km2. Anáhuac Municipality is one of the municipalities of the Mexican state of Nuevo León. Same-sex marriage is legal in Nuevo León in accordance with a ruling from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation issued on 19 February 2019 that the state's ban on same-sex marriage violated the Constitution of Mexico. On 19 February 2019, the Supreme Court issued a definitive ruling in an action of unconstitutionality, declaring the state's same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, void and unenforceable.
