Formed in 1970 as the Adams County League, Brown County League, and Highland County League merged to provide a stable schedule after consolidation decimated all three. The league has an odd distinction in that all of its current members were league members by its second year, giving the SHAC a level of continuity that most rural-based leagues do not have.

The Greater Buckeye Conference was a high school athletic conference with six members, all located in a large area of northern and northwest Ohio. It was affiliated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The conference was created for the 2003-2004 school year after the Great Lakes League folded, and lasted until the end of the 2010-11 school year.
Bellaire High School is a public high school located in Bellaire, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Bellaire Local School District. It is the only high school in the Rock Hill Local School District. The high school is a four-year school, offering grades 9-12. Their nickname is the Redmen, and their mascot is an Indian Chieftain. Its official colors are red and white.
The East Central Ohio League (ECOL) was an athletic conference of high schools in Ohio sponsored by OHSAA that existed from 1987-2022. Its final member schools were located in Tuscarawas and Washington Counties. Former members were located in Guernsey, Coshocton, Muskingum, and Belmont Counties.
The Southern Ohio Conference (S.O.C.) is an athletic conference in Ohio. The conference is also a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the governing body of Ohio athletics. There are currently seventeen member schools in the conference. The S.O.C. includes teams from five different Ohio counties - Jackson County, Gallia County Lawrence County, Pike County, and Scioto County. The conference recognizes: baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' cross country, football, boys' and girls' soccer, fast pitch softball, boys' and girls' swimming, boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' track and field athletics, and girls' volleyball.
