Oglet Khefifa is a locality in Sfax Governorate southern Tunisia, located in the semi arid area south of Sfax. [1]

Ruins at Oglet Khefifa have previously been identified with Macomades [2] now thought to be little farther to the north, at Henchir el Ghorib .

Natural disaster, war and population decline are the most common root causes, with many structures becoming progressively derelict over time due to long-term weathering and scavenging.
Macomades was a Carthaginian and Roman city in North Africa. It was located near present-day Merkeb-Talha, Algeria.

Bennefa, identifiable with Oglet-Khefifa in modern Tunisia, is an ancient civitas of the Roman province of Byzacena. and a seat of an ancient Christian episcopal see. The diocese was mentioned by Augustine of Hippo.
