Locris was a region of ancient Greece, the homeland of the Locrians, made up of three distinct districts.
During the first administrative division of independent Greece in 1833–1836 and again from 1845 until their abolition with the Kallikratis reform in 2010, the prefectures were the country's main administrative unit. They are now defunct, and have been approximately replaced by regional units.

Phthiotis is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the administrative region of Central Greece. The capital is the city of Lamia. It is bordered by the Malian Gulf to the east, Boeotia in the south, Phocis in the south, Aetolia-Acarnania in the southwest, Evrytania in the west, Karditsa regional unit in the north, Larissa regional unit in the north, and Magnesia in the northeast. The name dates back to ancient times. It is best known as the home of Achilles.
Mount Othrys is a mountain in central Greece, in the northeastern part of Phthiotis and southern part of Magnesia. Its highest summit, Gerakovouni, situated on the border of Phthiotis and Magnesia, is 1,726 m above sea level. The population density in the mountains is low: there are a few small villages, including Anavra in the northwest, Kokkotoi in the northeast, Palaiokerasia in the south and Neraida in the southwest. The length from west to east is about 35 km and the width from north to south is about 25 km. The Pagasetic Gulf lies to the northeast, and the Malian Gulf lies to the south. The summit Gerakovouni lies 19 km south of Almyros, 27 km northeast of Lamia and 44 km southwest of Volos. The upper ranges of the mountain are rocky, and there are forests in the lower ranges. The entire area is also a parkland. The main source of rock is ophiolite.

Phthiotis and Phocis Prefecture was a prefecture of Greece. It was first established in 1833 as the Phocis and Locris Prefecture but abolished in 1836 and reconstituted in 1845 under its later name. At the time, it lay on the Greek-Ottoman border. With the annexation of Thessaly by Greece in 1881, the prefecture's territory came to include the Domokos Province. The prefecture was split up into separate Phthiotis and Phocis prefectures in the 1899 reform, but this was reverted in 1909. The prefecture finally ceased to exist in 1947, when it was again split up into Phthiotis and Phocis. These existed until the abolition of the prefectures in 2011, when they were transformed into regional units of the Central Greece region.
Phthiotis Province was one of the provinces of the Phthiotis Prefecture, Greece. Its territory corresponded with that of the current municipalities Lamia, Makrakomi, and Stylida. It was abolished in 2006.
The Phthiotis Football Clubs Association is a football (soccer) organization in Phthiotis that is part of the Greek Football Federation. It was formed in 1951 as Phthiotis-Phocis Union and included teams from Phthiotis and the neighbouring prefectures of Phocis and Evrytania. The Phocis FCA was formed in the 1985–86 season and later its organization in Evrytania was created in 1990. Its offices and headquarters is located at Othonos Street in the city of Lamia, in People's Square. The association currently has three divisions: the A1 division which features 18 clubs, the Premier and the second division. The winner of the A1 Division enters the national Fourth Division, teams finished 15th–18th relegates to the Premier division.
