The Oranje Nassau II was a Dutch coal mine located in Schaesberg. The mine was in operation from 1904 until 1971. It was the second of four mines collectively known as the Oranje Nassau Mijnen.
When the first coal was extracted in 1904, high production levels were not yet achieved. The mine was not connected to the railroad and the coal had to be hauled to the Schaesberg station by horse and carriage. In 1906 the mine was in full production as the railways to Heerlen were finished. This railway was also used by the Staatsmijn Wilhelmina. Until its closure, a total of 34,065,000 tons of coal were brought to the surface. The highest production was reached in 1930 with 687,000 tonnes. In the last year that the mine was still in production (1970) 506,000 tonnes were won.

The NS 8800 was a series of tank engines of the Dutch railway NS for the shunting service. Of the approximately 324 British-built Hunslet Austerity C (0-6-0ST) saddle tank locomotives, many were used by the British War Department during their fight against the German army in mainland Western Europe. The NS bought 27 of them just after World War II. They had been built by the Hunslet Engine Company (12), WG Bagnall (3), Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns (RSH) (6), and Hudswell Clarke (6).

The Oranje Nassau Mijnen was a coal mine company, established in 1893 by Friedrich Honigmann (1841-1913) and Carl Honigmann (1842-1903) to exploit the rich coal deposits in and around Heerlen. The existence of coal deposits around Heerlen had been known for centuries, but efficient transportation was lacking. In 1886 Henri Sarolea had the idea of building a railroad between Herzogenrath, Heerlen, and Sittard, which was finished in 1896. It was this plan that prompted the building of the first mine.
The Oranje Nassau IV, the last and smallest mine exploited by the Oranje Nassau Mijnen, started its life as a ventilation shaft for Oranje Nassau III. In 1910 the construction of a mine shaft was started. However the construction was halted and only reassumed in 1919, the mine became operational in 1927.

The Ombilin Coal Mine is a coal mine near Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is located in a narrow valley along the Bukit Barisan mountains, among the Polan, Pari, and Mato hills, approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) northeast of Padang.
