Aust-Agder was a county (fylke) in Norway until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Vest-Agder to form Agder county. In 2002, there were 102,945 inhabitants, which was 2.2% of Norway's population. Its area was 9,212 square kilometres (3,557 sq mi). The county's administrative center was the town of Arendal.

Mandal is a former municipality in the old Vest-Agder county, Norway. It was located in the traditional district of Sørlandet. The municipality existed from 1964 until 1 January 2020 when the municipalities of Mandal, Lindesnes, and Marnardal were merged to form a new, larger municipality of Lindesnes in what is now Agder county. Mandal was the southernmost municipality in all of Norway, with the tiny skerry of Pysen being the southernmost point of land in Norway.
Evje og Hornnes is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Setesdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Evje. Other villages in the municipality include Åneland, Dåsnesmoen, Flatebygd, Gautestad, Hornnes, Kjetså, and Øvre Dåsvatn. Evje og Hornnes was created as a new municipality on 1 January 1960 after the merger of the two older municipalities of Evje and Hornnes. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs north–south through the municipality, along the river Otra.

Southern Norway is the geographical region (landsdel) along the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. The region is an informal description since it does not have any governmental function. It roughly corresponds to the old petty kingdom of Agder as well as the two former counties of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder. From New Year 2020, the two counties have been merged into one county, Agder. The total combined area of Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder counties is 16,493 square kilometres (6,368 sq mi). The name is relatively new, having first been used in Norway around 1900.
Sira is a village in Flekkefjord municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located immediately east of the county border of Agder and Rogaland. The European route E39 highway passes by the village and the Sørlandet Line runs right through the village, stopping at Sira Station. The 0.66-square-kilometre (160-acre) village has a population (2015) of 630, giving the village a population density of 955 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,470/sq mi).
Lygne is a lake in the municipality of Hægebostad in Agder county, Norway. The 7.56-square-kilometre (2.92 sq mi) lake is part of the river Lygna. The lake begins near the village of Eiken in the north and stretches about 10.4 kilometres (6.5 mi) to the south to the village of Tingvatn. Part of the western shore has fairly steep cliffs overlooking the lake, but the rest of the shoreline is relatively flat with houses and roads.
Valevatn is a lake in the municipality of Sirdal in Agder county, Norway. The 6.97-square-kilometre (2.69 sq mi) lake lies just north of the lake Gravatnet and a short distance west of the village of Kvæven. There are two dams on the east side of the L-shaped lake. The lake drains into the lake Gravatnet and the river Sira which runs just east of the lake.
Øre or Ørevatn is a lake in the municipality of Åseral in Agder county, Norway. The 3.82-square-kilometre (1.47 sq mi) lake is located at the confluence of the rivers Logna and Monn at the village of Kyrkjebygda. Near the southern end of the lake, the river Mandalselva flows southwards. The village of Eikerapen lies along the southwestern shore of the lake.

Kyrkjebygda or Kyrkjebygdi is the administrative centre of Åseral municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on a small flat plain in a valley at the northern end of the lake Øre at the confluence of the rivers Logna and Monn. The Monn river valley heads north-northwest to the village of Ljosland and the Logna river valley heads north-northeast to the villages of Åknes and Bortelid.
Lista is a former municipality located in the old Vest-Agder county in Norway. The 193-square-kilometre (75 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. The administrative centre was the village of Vanse where Vanse Church is located. Lista municipality was historically known as the municipality of Vanse until 1911. The former municipality's land is now located in the present-day municipality of Farsund in Agder county.
The North Sea Trail is a transnational long-distance hiking trail along the coast of the North Sea. The route passes through seven countries and 26 partner areas. The aim of the project is to promote sustainable tourism and to keep alive the common cultural heritage of the North Sea countries. The trail has a theoretical total length of about 4,900 kilometres (3,000 mi), but so far only about 3,700 kilometres (2,300 mi) have been developed.

Ore is a small village in Farsund municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) west of the village of Vanse. The village sits on the northeast side of the Farsund Airport, Lista. Ore School, an elementary school serving this part of Farsund was located in the village.
