Snillfjord is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1924 until its dissolution in 2020 when it was split between Hitra Municipality, Heim Municipality, and Orkland Municipality. It was part of the Fosen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Krokstadøra. Other villages in Snillfjord Municipality included Ytre Snillfjord, Hemnskjela, Selnes, and Vutudal.

The administrative centre was the village of Selbekken. Other villages in the municipality included Ingdalen, Lensvik, Vassbygda, Vernes, and Leksa. The Brekstad–Valset Ferry connected Agdenes to the town of Brekstad in Ørland Municipality on the other side of the Trondheimsfjorden.

The town sits at the end of the Orkdal Fjord, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord. Orkanger is the commercial centre of the municipality of Orkland and it is the site of the Orkanger Church. It was established as a "town" in 2014.

Orkland is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed only for a short time, from 1920 until 1963. The 169-square-kilometre (65 sq mi) municipality encompassed the central part of what is now the municipality of Orkland in Trøndelag county. The main church of the municipality was Moe Church, just south of the village of Vormstad, the administrative centre of the municipality. Most of the population lived in the Orkdalen valley along the river Orklaelva and near the lake Hostovatnet. The main village areas were Vormstad, Svorkmo, and Hoston.

Geitastrand is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county in Norway. The 119-square-kilometre (46 sq mi) municipality existed from 1905 until 1963 in what is now part of the municipality of Orkland in Trøndelag county. It encompassed the coastal area along the Trondheimsfjord between the town of Orkanger in the south to the Ingdalen valley in the north. The district was thinly populated, and has no significant urban areas. The administrative centre of the municipality was at Geitastrand village where the Geitastrand Church is located. The Byneset area of the city of Trondheim is located across the fjord to the east from Geitastrand.

Lensvik Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Orkland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lensvik, along the Trondheimsfjord, just north of Selbekken. It is one of the three churches for the Agdenes parish which is part of the Orkdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1863 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch. The church seats about 230 people.

Hoston is a village in Orkland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located on the northeastern shore of the lake Hostovatnet, about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) west of the village of Vormstad. The Søvasskjølen Church is located in the mountains about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the northwest of Hoston.

The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1859 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch. The church seats about 250 people.

Søvasskjølen Church is a chapel of the Church of Norway in Orkland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Svorksjødalen valley, about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of Fannrem. It is an annex chapel for the Orkdal parish which is part of the Orkdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The small church was built in 1981 in a long church style to be a mountain sports chapel. The church looks like a holiday cottage and it seats about 130 people.
