South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. It began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. There was no in-person event in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin; in both years there was a smaller online event instead.

Continental is a 2013 documentary film, directed by Malcolm Ingram, about the history of the Continental Baths, a historic gay bathhouse in New York City. Creep is a 2014 American found footage psychological horror film directed by Patrick Brice, his directorial debut, from a story by Brice and Mark Duplass, who both star in the film. Filmed as found footage, Brice portrays a videographer assigned to record an eccentric client, played by Duplass. Creep was inspired by Brice's experiences on Craigslist and the movies My Dinner with Andre, Misery, and Fatal Attraction. Brice and Duplass refined the film's story during filming, which resulted in multiple versions of each scene and several alternate end scenarios.
The Disaster Artist is a 2017 American biographical comedy-drama film starring, co-produced and directed by James Franco. It was written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, based on Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell's 2013 non-fiction book. The film chronicles an unlikely friendship between aspiring actors Tommy Wiseau and Sestero that results in the production of Wiseau's 2003 film The Room, widely considered one of the worst films ever made. The Disaster Artist stars brothers James and Dave Franco as Wiseau and Sestero, respectively, alongside a supporting cast featuring Alison Brie, Ari Graynor, Josh Hutcherson, Jacki Weaver, and Seth Rogen.

Hailing from the Gopaldhara Tea Estate family, he was born in the tea estates of Darjeeling, studied at The Doon School and graduated from Ithaca College in New York, with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Photography. He made his directorial debut with the 2015 romantic drama Loev. Saria won a National Film Award for directing the short film Knock Knock Knock. He is also known for directing and co-writing the high octane espionage drama ULAJH and for showrunning, co-writing and co-directing the young adult series on Amazon Prime Video, Big Girls Don't Cry.

State of Pride is a 2019 American YouTube original documentary film directed by Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein. YouTuber and LGBTQ activist Raymond Braun explores the LGBT rights movement by traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, San Francisco, California, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to meet with young LGBT people who share their opinions about what Pride Month means to them. The film stars Troye Sivan, Raymond Braun and Heklina. It was the first in a series of three documentaries hosted on the YouTube site for Pride 2019. It had its world premiere on March 8, 2019 at the South by Southwest Film Festival, and later released on YouTube on May 29, 2019.
