The PGA Professional Championship is a golf tournament run by The PGA for club professionals. It was first played in 1973 as the MacGregor PGA Club Professionals' Championship. [1] The leading nine players in the event became the Great Britain and Ireland team for the first Diamondhead Cup, the forerunner of the PGA Cup, played against a United States team at Pinehurst later in the year. [2]

The 1991 event was won by Brett Upper, an American, with a score of 285. Upper received the first prize money but was not eligible to win the title.

Anthony Jacklin CBE is an English golfer. He was the most successful British player of his generation, winning two major championships, the 1969 Open Championship and the 1970 U.S. Open. He was also Ryder Cup captain from 1983 to 1989; Europe winning two and tying another of these four events.
The Scottish PGA Championship is a golf tournament played annually in Scotland since 1907. For many years the event was called the Scottish Professional Championship. It is the flagship event on the "Tartan Tour", the PGA Tour in Scotland's schedule. The 2016 event was the 100th staging of the Championship and the final event on the 2016 Tartan Tour schedule.
Brian George Charles Huggett, is a Welsh professional golfer. He won 16 events on the European circuit between 1962 and 1978, including two after the formal start of the European Tour in 1972. In 1968 he won the Harry Vardon Trophy for leading the Order of Merit and he was in third place in 1969, 1970 and 1972. He won 10 times on the European Seniors Tour between 1992 and 2000, including the 1998 Senior British Open.
Brian J. Waites is an English professional golfer. Although he turned professional in 1957, he played little top-level golf for the next 20 years, but then has considerable success, winning twice on the European Tour, five times on the Safari Circuit and playing in the 1983 Ryder Cup. After reaching 50 he had further success as a senior, winning the PGA Seniors Championship twice, and winning four times on the European Senior Tour.
Norman Vico Drew was a Northern Irish professional golfer. He had a successful amateur career, winning a number of Irish championships and playing in the 1953 Walker Cup. In the 1959 season, he won the Yorkshire Evening News Tournament and played in the Ryder Cup. Drew later represented Ireland in the Canada Cup, becoming the first golfer to play in the Walker Cup, Ryder Cup and Canada Cup. He was renowned for his short game.
Malcolm Edward Gregson is an English professional golfer. After a promising start to his career as an amateur and assistant professional, he had one exceptional year, 1967, when he won the Harry Vardon Trophy and played in the Ryder Cup, but had only limited success afterwards. After reaching 50 he played on the European Senior Tour, winning five times.
The Irish PGA Championship, formerly the Irish Professional Championship and colloquially known as the Irish Professional Close or National Championship, is a golf tournament that is played annually in Ireland since 1907. It is one of the oldest golf tournaments in the world, the oldest in the country, and has been played at many different golf courses in Ireland.
Gordon Alexander Caygill is an English professional golfer. He had considerable early success as a young professional from 1960 to 1963 but then had a lean period, partly due to a stomach ulcer. He made a comeback in the late 1960s, winning two tournaments in early 1969, and gained a place in the 1969 Ryder Cup team.
Harry Bannerman is a Scottish professional golfer best known for playing in the 1971 Ryder Cup.
The PGA Cup is a men's golf competition for club professionals played between a Great Britain and Ireland team and a United States team. The winning team is presented with the Llandudno Trophy. The competition is run by the British PGA and the PGA of America. It was first played in 1973 and was an annual event until 1984, after which it became biennial.
The Midland Professional Championship is an annual golf tournament played in the English Midlands. The event is organised by the Midlands Region of the Professional Golfers' Association. It is the oldest tournament in professional golf having been first contested in 1898.
Hedley W. Muscroft was an English professional golfer. He played regularly on the European circuit and later on the European Tour when it started in 1972. He won the 1970 Classic International and played in The Open Championship 16 times with a best finish of 18th place in 1967.
Ladies' British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship was founded in 1969 by the Ladies' Golf Union of Great Britain.
The Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship is the national women's amateur stroke play golf championship in Scotland. It has been played annually at Royal Troon since 1973 and is organised by the Scottish Golf.
The Welsh Women's Open Stroke Play Championship is the women's national amateur stroke play golf championship of Wales. It was first played in 1976 and is currently organised by Wales Golf.
Elaine Farquharson-Black is a Scottish amateur golfer. She won the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open Championship in 1987, the Scottish Women's Amateur Championship in 1990 and reached the final of the 1989 Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1990 and 1992 and was the non-playing captain in 2016 and 2018.
Russell David Weir was a Scottish professional golfer. He chose not to play on the main tours, remaining a club professional. He played mostly on the Scottish PGA circuit, the "Tartan Tour", where he won over 100 times. He won the PGA Club Professionals Championship in 1987 and 1988 and won the European club professional title three times. He played in eight consecutive PGA Cup matches between 1986 and 2000 and was captain of the Great Britain and Ireland team in 2011 and 2013. After reaching 50 he played on the European Senior Tour where he won once.
Robert Taylor Walker was a Scottish professional golfer. He won the Scottish Professional Championship twice and was runner-up in the PGA Close Championship in 1962 and a semi-finalist in the 1970 PGA Match Play Championship. He represented Scotland in the 1964 Canada Cup. He played in the Open Championship nine times, making the cut three times.
The Scottish Young Professional Championship is a golf tournament for young golfers that has been played since 1958. From its founding until 2002 it was known as the Scottish Assistants' Championship. Initially played over 36 holes it has generally been played over 72 since 1970.
Thomas Craig Maltman is a Scottish professional golfer. He had some successes in Scottish events, winning the Scottish Assistants' Championship three times and winning the Tartan Tour Order of Merit in 1989 after winning the Sunderland Sportswear Masters and the Ram Classic that year. He played on the Safari Circuit, winning 1989 Zambia Open and the 1993 Kenya Open.
