Panzer is a Chilean heavy metal band created in 1987.
Panzer debuted in 1987 after its contributions to the compilation Infierno Rock. In 1988, the band was elected by peers and journalists as the best Chilean rock group, a title it held for two consecutive years. This coincided with the release of their first album Metal Land in 1988, followed by its 1989 Latin American re-release in an attempt to establish the band in other Spanish-speaking markets.
In 1989, Panzer appeared in Latinos y Metálicos, a compilation of heavy metal from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Spain. The official launch for the album was at the Stadium of Buenos Aires Waterworks.
Lyrics reflecting widespread youth issues and the band's classic cut of heavy metal became the trademark of Panzer. In October 1994, the album Crol Vivo o Muerto was released. After returning from Argentina, where the band aimed to promote sales, Panzer opened for the American metal band Megadeth at Victor Jara Stadium.
In January 1995, the group went on a national tour of Chile, its destinations including Arica and Punta Arenas. The tour ended in November with its final show in Quinta Vergara in Viña del Mar. In December 1995, Panzer was awarded the "Tribute to national rock" by the Ministerial Secretariat of Education for the band's "influence on the development and evolution of rock in Chile".
In August 1996, Panzer opened for Iron Maiden's first concert in Chile at the Teatro Monumental in front of 7,000 people. On October 22, Panzer was the opening act for the AC/DC concert at the National Stadium Velodrome with an audience of 20,000 people. In November, En el nombre de... was released.
In 1998, Rock & Roll addiction was released. The album consisted of recorded live performances during Panzer's opening acts for Iron Maiden and AC/DC. On December 12, 1998, Panzer opened for Anthrax and Slayer in the Chile National Stadium.
The band members at the time were John Alvarez (guitar and composition), Khano Alvarez (lead guitar), Beto Lopez (singer), Jose Aravena (bass) and Coty Correa (drums). Panzer was the opening act for Deep Purple's show of March 1999 and performed at the 2001 "Grandes del rock hispano" festival in the Estadio Victor Jara with Barón Rojo and Rata Blanca with an audience of 6,000 people.[ citation needed ]
Víctor Lidio Jara Martínez was a Chilean teacher, theater director, poet, singer-songwriter and socialist political activist tortured and killed by the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. He developed Chilean theater by directing a broad array of works, ranging from locally produced plays to world classics, as well as the experimental work of playwrights such as Ann Jellicoe. He also played a pivotal role among neo-folkloric musicians who established the Nueva Canción Chilena movement. This led to an uprising of new sounds in popular music during the administration of President Salvador Allende.
Chilean rock is rock music and its corresponding subgenres produced in Chile or by Chileans. Chilean rock lyrics are usually sung in Spanish so can be considered as part of rock en español, although sometimes are sung in English as well.
Norberto Aníbal Napolitano, popularly known as Pappo, was an Argentine rock musician, guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was and is one of the most influential figures in Argentine music, and in addition to being one of the forerunners of Argentine rock. Besides, he was one of the first to venture into heavy metal in his country and blues of the same.

Luzbel is a heavy metal band from Mexico founded in 1982 by Raul Fernandez Greñas, Antonio "la Rana" Morante, Jorge Cabrera (vocals), Hugo Tames (drums) and Fernando Landeros (guitar). They were signed to Warner Music in 1985. Luzbel is best known during the 1980s and 1990s for songs like Holocausto, 2pm ,'Por piedad, La Gran Ciudad, Pasaporte Al Infierno, Paradoxa, Juegos De Pasion, Utopia, Souvenir, Plegaria De Un Loco, Te Posereé, El Tiempo De Odio, Del Infierno, El Errante, El Loco, Íncubo and the metalhead hymn Advertencia.
Barón Rojo is a Spanish heavy metal band from Madrid that achieved international success in the 1980s. The band is led by siblings Carlos and Armando de Castro, previously from the band Coz, and is considered one of the most important representatives of Spanish hard rock. Barón Rojo in Spanish means "red baron", the name of the band being an homage to Manfred von Richthofen; the 1981 eponymous song "Barón Rojo" is about him. In 2017, they were ranked number 18 on Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Spanish Rock Bands".

Transmetal is an extreme metal band formed in Ciudad Azteca, Ecatepec, Mexico in 1987 by brothers Javier, Juan, and Lorenzo Partida. They are known as one of the most important metal bands in Latin America. Their most well known song is "Killers" from the Desear un Funeral EP (1989), which is a cover of French band Killers.
Hermética was an Argentine thrash metal band from San Martín, Buenos Aires. It was formed by bassist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band, V8, disbanded. Hermética was signed to the independent record label Radio Trípoli Discos throughout their career. The band's initial lineup consisted of Iorio, vocalist Claudio O'Connor, drummer Fabián Spataro and guitarist Antonio Romano. Spataro left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Antonio Scotto. This lineup recorded their eponymous album, the first thrash metal album recorded in Argentina. At this point of their career, Hermética performed mainly in Argentina, except for one concert held in Uruguay. In 1990, they released Intérpretes—an extended play which included covers of Argentine rock and tango songs. Both albums were released by Radio Trípoli Discos as a single CD when digital technology became available.
Angeles Del Infierno is a heavy metal band from Basque Country, Spain, formed in 1980. Signing with Warner Bros. Records in 1984, they achieved success in their home country and Latin America during the 1980s and the early 1990s. In 2003, the band reformed and signed back onto Warner Bros. Records, releasing Todos Somos Angeles later that year.

Tren Loco is an Argentinian heavy metal band formed in the suburban town of Grand Bourg, in Buenos Aires Province. Their lyrics relate social issues, like "Clase trabajadora", "Fuera de la Ley" (Outlaw) and "Lucila"; others are about political issues, such as "Pampa del Infierno" and "Nos vemos en Cutral-Co". They also write about personal matters: "Endemoniado" (Possessed), "No me importa" and "A ultranza". The group's name is inspired by the classic Ozzy Osbourne song: Crazy Train.
Obús is a Spanish heavy metal band founded in Madrid, Spain in 1980. They stood out because they took the risk of making a big spectacle in their concerts, to reach to the level of other international heavy metal bands. In addition, the lyrics they write and the feelings they transmit connect with the people that follow them. As they said in an interview: "All our songs, some more and some less, have a meaning". Far away from renouncing to their genre, they have always claimed that they were a heavy metal band, and they wrote a song about this genre in their first album called, "Dosis de Heavy Metal". In 2012, because of their 30th anniversary, they did a tour around Spain.
Los Muertos de Cristo was a Spanish heavy metal band that appeared in Utrera, Andalusia, Spain, in 1989, with an anarchist ideology. LMDC announced its dissolution in 2006, although they released their last album on 9 November 2009, before their retirement after one last tour. Some of its members later formed the group El Noi del Sucre.
