Venue

The Para triathlon course will start from Pont Alexandre III bridge near Seine River and will end at the same place. The event will be over sprint distance. There will be 750 metre Swim through Seine River, 20 km para cycling at Champs-Élysées, Avenue Montaigne, crossing the Seine by the Pont des Invalides and reaching the Quai d'Orsay and last leg of 5 km run will end at Pont Alexandre III bridge. Entry List

World Triathlon confirmed the final entry list for the event in August 2024. Men's PTWC is a combined classification event, including PTWC1 (more impaired) and PTWC2 (less impaired) athletes. As such, the race will use an interval start as set out in World Triathlon competition rules, with PTWC2 athletes entering the water three minutes after their PTWC1 colleagues. The three minutes is included in the final time as part of the swim leg.

Joseph Townsend is a British paratriathlete who competes in the PTWC classification. Townsend has won European and world medals as well as becoming Commonwealth Champion in 2018. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, where he finished sixth. Townsend has won the GBR Paratriathlon National Championships for four consecutive years- 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. He lost both legs whilst serving in Afghanistan, after stepping on an IED in 2008. Joe Townsend is based in Eastbourne, England, where he was born.

The Paratriathlon at the 2020 Summer Paralympics – Men's PTS4 event at the 2020 Paralympic Games took place at 06:30 on 28 August 2021 at the Odaiba Marine Park. The PTWC classification combined two functional classifications, both of which used handbikes and racing wheelchairs for the bike and run respectively, but with different impairment levels. To ensure as far as possible even competition, therefore, PTWC2 athletes were given a delay at the start of 3 minutes 08 seconds, a time period calculated as sufficient to even out the performance difference between that class and the more impaired PTWC1 class.
