Paris Hamilton (born July 26, 1981) is an American football player, a wide receiver, who attended the University of Minnesota.
Paris Hamilton joined the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 2003 but blew out his left knee in summer conditioning and missed the season. He had four catches for 198 yards and two touchdowns in 2004 . Hamilton played for Tyler (TX) Junior College prior to signing with Minnesota.
Hamilton was signed to the Detroit Lions during the 2005 season. He also played with them during the 2006 season. On June 13, 2007, Hamilton signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was placed on injury reserve after suffering a torn ACL. .

Benjamin Thomas Hamilton is an American former professional football player who was a guard and center for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Minnesota, and was a two-time consensus All-American. The Denver Broncos picked him in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL draft, and he played professionally for the Broncos and Seattle Seahawks of the NFL.
Glen Robert Sonmor was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, scout and coach. He played 28 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers from 1953 to 1955, though most of his career was spent in the minor American Hockey League. After his playing career, Sonmor turned to coaching. He led the University of Minnesota from 1966 to 1972, then went to the World Hockey Association, where he was the general manager, and occasional coach, of the Minnesota Fighting Saints and Birmingham Bulls between 1972 and 1978. He then moved to the NHL to coach the Minnesota North Stars from 1978 to 1987. Later in his career, Sonmor became a scout for the Minnesota Wild of the NHL.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team at the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. They are members of the Big Ten Conference and compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I ice hockey. The Golden Gophers are one of the most prominent and storied programs in college hockey, having made 41 NCAA Tournament appearances and 23 trips to the Frozen Four. They have won five NCAA national championships, in 1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 and 2003. The team also shared the 1929 National Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with Yale, and captured the national Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) championship for amateur hockey in 1940.

This was Smith's second year as Minnesota's head coach. The Golden Gophers played their home games at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Big Ten Network included the team in a two-and-a-half-hour special that featured Midnight Madness events from several Big Ten campuses on October 17, 2008; the Minnesota event to kick off the season was called "Tubby's Tipoff". The Gophers started the season on a twelve-game winning streak for the first time since the 1948–49 season. The team became ranked on December 22, the first time the team had been ranked since the 2002–03 season.

The team's head coach was Tubby Smith in his third year. The Golden Gophers played their home games at Williams Arena in Minneapolis and are members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 21–14, 9–9 in Big Ten play. They advanced to the championship game of the 2010 Big Ten Conference men's basketball tournament before losing to Ohio State. They received an at-large bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, earning an 11 seed in the West Region. They lost to six-seed and AP #25 Xavier in the first round.

In its 7th year under head coach Herb Brooks the team compiled a 32–11–1 record and reached the NCAA tournament for the eighth time. The Golden Gophers defeated North Dakota 4–3 in the championship game at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit, Michigan to win their third national championship.
