Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir

The Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir is predominantly composed of senior MNAs and Senators of Pakistan. Its fundamental function is to raise the critical issue of Kashmir at national and international level. Its other key feature is its continuous progress in bringing all major political forces in one platform in order to pursue Kashmir cause. During the nineties, two Parliamentary Committees were established. The Kashmir Committee comprising 31 members, is one of the most important parliamentary bodies, and the slot of its chairman goes to a seasoned and respected politician. In the past, stalwarts like Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Khan and Ch. Hamid Nasir Chattha held this important position. Because of the importance of the issue, when the Parliament was not in position the former president Pervez Musharraf also formulated a National Kashmir Committee headed by the Kashmir veteran leader Sardar Abdul Qayyum.

The first one, comprising 24 members (MNAs: 21 & Senators: 3) was headed by late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, MNA (December, 1993 – November, 1996); whereas the second, with 26 members (MNAs) was led by late Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Khan, MNA (May, 1997 – October, 1999). The third Parliamentary Kashmir Committee was established in June, 2004 with Ch. Hamid Nasir Chattha, MNA its chairman. The Committee comprised 49 members (MNAs: 36 & Senators: 13) and continued until November, 2007. Fourteen of its Members were Ministers also. Chairman of Kashmir Committee has been accorded status of Federal Minister in Pakistan.

Current chairman of Kashmir Committee is Shehryar Khan Afridi .

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is a senior Pakistani conservative politician hailing from Gujrat and a business oligarch who previously served as 16th Prime Minister of Pakistan from 30 June 2004 on a temporary basis during a transitional period to accommodate Shaukat Aziz till 28 August 2004. Hussain has been party president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) since 2003, when he had followed party founder Mian Muhammad Azhar because of his lack of a parliamentary seat.

The Pakistan Muslim League (J) was a political party in Pakistan established in 1988. It merged with PML-Q in 2004.

Salim Saifullah Khan is a Pakistani politician and President of a faction of the Pakistan Muslim League and a Senator of Pakistan and Chairman of Pakistan's Senate Foreign Relations, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Committee. He is a Khan, or Lord of the Marwat Tribe. He has in the past remained Finance Minister, Industries, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Salim Saifullah Khan has held portfolios of Housing, Commerce, Petroleum and Inter-Provincial Coordination as a Federal Minister. He has most recently served as the Chairman of Senate's Foreign Relation Committee. Presently Salim Saifullah khan is Honorary Consul General of Turkey, at Peshawar. Recently elected President Pakistan Tennis Federation on 12 December 2014.

Chaudhry Hamid Nasir Chattha is a politician from Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan. He was born on November 15, 1944 at Lahore. Hamid Nasir Chattha is currently a Member of Punjab Assembly, Pakistan after losing in 2008 National Assembly elections. He was previously elected as an MNA in 1985, 1990, 1993, and 2002 from his constituency of Gujranwala. Married, he is the father of two sons and two daughters.

Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Khan ; was a renowned and the longest serving Parliamentarian in the history of Pakistan. He served in Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and National Assembly of Pakistan from 1951 to 1999. The first direct elections held in Pakistan after independence were for the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab between 10–20 March 1951. He was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly in 1951. He was again elected in the 1962 and 1964 Provincial Assembly elections in Pakistan.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan is a Pakistani politician who is the current Federal Minister for Petroleum, in office since 20 August 2018. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, since August 2018. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and again from June 2013 to May 2018. He remained a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 1985 to 1996.

Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan, or simply Malik Amad Khan is the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and member of Majlis-e-Shoora from 2008 to 2013. He was one of the youngest members of the Cabinet of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Peoples Muslim League (PPML), formerly known as the Pakistan Muslim League (Like-Minded) and abbreviated as PML (LM), was a political party in Pakistan led by former Chief Minister of Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim. The party was a breakaway faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q). It emerged in 2009 after many members of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) became disillusioned by the questionable decisions of the Chaudhry's of Gujrat who were alleged to be making important decisions without consulting any of the senior party members and making the party an undemocratic "family party." In May 2013, the party merged with the Pakistan Muslim League (N).

Shehryar Khan Afridi (Urdu: شہریار خان آفریدی‎; born 12 March 1971, is a Pakistani politician who served as the Minister of State for Interior from 31 August 2018 to 18 April 2019. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. Previously, he was also a member of the National Assembly from June 2013 to May 2018. He is serving as the Minister of State for States and Frontier Regions since 18 April 2019. He was also given an additional charge of the Ministry of Narcotics Control after the death of Ali Mohammad Mahar. Since 16 April 2020, Afridi is serving as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir.

Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2007 and a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, between 1977 and May 2018.

The Second Nawaz Sharif provincial cabinet was formed by Nawaz Sharif in November 1988 to begin a new government following the 1988 Pakistani general election. It was dissolved on 6 August 1990.

Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry, also known by the name of Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, is a Pakistani politician who is the current Federal Minister for Science and Technology, in office since 19 April 2019.
