The 1956 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Minnesota in the 1956 Big Ten Conference football season. In their third year under head coach Murray Warmath, the Golden Gophers compiled a 6–1–2 record and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 127 to 87. The team finished 12th in the final AP Poll and ninth in the final Coaches Poll.
Clarence Paul "Sally" Miles was an American football and baseball player, coach, and college administrator. He served as the head football coach at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI)—now known as Virginia Tech—from 1905 to 1906, compiling a record of 14–3–2. Miles also was the head baseball coach at VPI in 1908 and 1913. He served as the school's athletic director from 1920 to 1934.
Paul Richard Cox is an English football manager who was previously a professional footballer. In an eleven-year career as a player, Cox played in the Football League with his hometown club Notts County before playing in non-league football with several clubs, most notably Kettering Town. Cox moved into coaching at Eastwood Town in 2003, becoming the manager in 2005. He won the Northern Premier League in 2008-09, and left the club for Mansfield Town in 2011, with whom he won the Conference Premier in 2012–13, before leaving in November 2014. He later managed Torquay United in 2015, Barrow from 2015 until 2017, and Guiseley between 2017 and 2018. He is currently manager of Kettering Town.
