People's School Program (PSP) is an educational initiative under the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF), Government of Sindh, Pakistan. [1] It aims to provide quality education through English Medium & Comprehensive High Schools established by the Government and operated under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements. [2] [3]
The People's School Program was launched by Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) in 2022 as part of the Government of Sindh's educational reform initiatives. The program ensures that newly constructed government schools are effectively managed through partnerships with well-established educational institutions and non-governmental organizations. [4]
The first People's School under this program was established in Dhoronaro, where student enrollment exceeded 500 within a short period, surpassing the initial target of 400 students per school. PSP aims to bring 300,000 out-of-school children into the education system over the next two years. [5]
- To provide quality education to students across Sindh. - To ensure free and inclusive learning environments. - To integrate modern teaching methodologies and curriculum aligned with national standards. - To engage private sector expertise in school management for enhanced efficiency and academic outcomes. [6]
As of 2025, the People's School Program operates 35 schools across Sindh, with an enrollment of over 25,000 students. [7] [8]
While SEF supervises the program, the day-to-day management of PSP schools is handed over to renowned educational institutions and organizations, ensuring professional administration and enhanced learning environments. Some of the key managing partners include:
- Medium of Instruction: English. Subjects: The curriculum follows the Sindh Textbook Board with additional focus on STEM education, IT, and life skills. Facilities: PSP schools are equipped with modern classrooms, science & computer labs, libraries, and sports facilities. - Language Programs: SEF has introduced Chinese language classes in 100 schools, with plans to introduce Arabic language instruction in the future.
The program has significantly improved educational access for students in Sindh, providing modern infrastructure, trained faculty, and an enriched academic curriculum. PSP students have excelled in regional and national academic competitions, showcasing the program’s success.
