State Route 10 Loop is a 19.1-mile-long (30.7 km) state highway in the form of a beltway around downtown Athens in the U.S. state of Georgia built to freeway standards. Much of SR 10 Loop is concurrent with other highways. It also carries the unsigned SR 422. The only numbered routes to travel through downtown Athens are US 78 Bus., SR 10, and SR 15 Alt.. Inner/outer directions are used to sign the loop.

Provincial Trunk Highways (PTH) 100 and 101, collectively known as the Perimeter Highway, form a beltway around the Canadian city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Perimeter Highway is approximately 90 km (56 mi) in length and serves as an alternate route around Winnipeg for through traffic, as there are no freeways in the city. The Perimeter Highway is often considered by local residents as Winnipeg's unofficial city limits, although approximately three-quarters of the highway lies outside the city in surrounding municipalities within the Winnipeg Metro Region.

They can be used to sign individual routes that encircle a city or metropolitan area, where east–west and north–south orientations cannot be applied uniformly. The labels are also used in select double track rail systems that form a loop, indicating the direction of travel of each line.
