Peter Stanley Fisher (born 19 September 1936) is a former Australian politician. Born in Rainbow,Victoria,he attended Longerenong Agricultural College before becoming a farmer. In 1972,he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Country Party member for Mallee. During his parliamentary career,Fisher served as Deputy Whip (1976-1980),Chief Whip (1980-1983) and Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation (1983-1984). [3] Fisher held the seat until 1993 (by which time his party had become the National Party). [4] In 1979,the first Qantas Boeing 747 aircraft equipped with Rolls-Royce engines (registration VH-ECB) was named the 'City of Swan Hill' after the riverside Mallee town as a result of Fisher's lobbying efforts. After leaving Parliament,Fisher was appointed as Chief Commissioner of Horsham Rural City Council as part of the Kennett/MacNamara Government's restructuring of local government in Victoria. [7] He also served as Trustee of Horsham Regional Art Gallery from 1998 to 2009,thereafter relocating to Buderim to retire closer to his family.
The Boeing 747 is a long-range wide-body airliner designed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in the United States between 1968 and 2023. After the introduction of the 707 in October 1958,Pan Am wanted a jet 2+1⁄2 times its size,to reduce its seat cost by 30%. In 1965,Joe Sutter left the 737 development program to design the 747. In April 1966,Pan Am ordered 25 Boeing 747-100 aircraft,and in late 1966,Pratt &Whitney agreed to develop the JT9D engine,a high-bypass turbofan. On September 30,1968,the first 747 was rolled out of the custom-built Everett Plant,the world's largest building by volume. The 747's first flight took place on February 9,1969,and the 747 was certified in December of that year. It entered service with Pan Am on January 22,1970. The 747 was the first airplane called a "Jumbo Jet" as the first wide-body airliner.
Ansett Australia,originally Ansett Airways,was a major Australian airline group based in Melbourne,Victoria. The company operated domestically within Australia,and from the 1990s,to destinations in Asia. Following 65 years of operation,the airline went into administration in 2001 following a financial collapse and subsequent liquidation in 2002,subject to a deed of company arrangement. Ansett’s last flight touched down on 5 March 2002.

Gilbert William Arthur Duthie AM was an Australian politician. Born in Nhill,Victoria,he was educated at state schools and at the University of Melbourne before becoming a schoolteacher and farmer in rural Victoria. In 1938 he was ordained a Methodist minister,and in 1944 he moved to Latrobe,Tasmania. In 1945 and 1946 Duthie was directly involved with Australian rules football in the town. He was secretary of the Latrobe Football Club as well as playing senior games for it in the NWFU competition.

William Carroll was an Australian politician. Born in Garvoc,Victoria,he was educated at Horsham before moving to Western Australia during the gold rush to become a miner,and subsequently became a farmer at Tammin. He was General Secretary of the Western Australian Primary Producers' Association,and was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council from 1923 to 1924. In 1925,he was elected to the Australian Senate as a Country Party Senator for Western Australia. He remained in the Senate until his death in 1936,necessitating the appointment of Thomas Marwick to replace him.
The Wimmera Regional Library Corporation is situated in the northwest of Victoria,Australia. It covers an area of approximately 36,800 km2. and serves two local government bodies -Horsham Rural City Council and West Wimmera Shire Council,with a combined population of approximately 23,700. Longerenong College,often abbreviated Longy,is an agricultural college in western-Victoria near the city of Horsham,Victoria. The focus of study at the College is "agronomy,rural merchandise management,wool classing,agricultural education,farm management,research and livestock sales." The College is based around a residential campus in the small locality of Dooen. The college includes a 1070 hectare farm "with cropping,sheep and beef cattle enterprises."
