Peter Jackson (born 1953) [1] is an Australian businessman who was the Chief Executive Officer of the Essendon and Melbourne Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). [1]

Administrative career

Essendon (1996–2009)

Jackson was the CEO of the Essendon Football Club between 1996 and 2009, during which the club won a record-equaling 16th premiership and was credited with strengthening the club's finances. [2] [3] He was also involved in the process of replacing the club's long-serving coach Kevin Sheedy with Matthew Knights at the end of the 2007 AFL season.[ citation needed ]

Melbourne (2013–2019)

Jackson was appointed as the CEO of the Melbourne Football Club in May 2013, overseeing a significant restructure and rebuilding of the club, including the sacking of coach Mark Neeld [4] and the appointment of Paul Roos as the club's senior coach. [5] [1]

Jackson departed Melbourne at the end of the 2019 season, by which point the club had returned to stability both on and off the field, with an overhauled playing list and a return to the finals under second-year coach Simon Goodwin. [6]

Neale Francis Daniher is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). His brothers, Terry, Anthony and Chris, also played for Essendon. Daniher was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2014 and is now known as a prominent campaigner for medical research.

Brad Green (footballer) Australian rules footballer, born 1981

Brad Green is a former Australian rules football player player and is the current North Melbourne development coach. He played for 13 seasons with Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Drafted with the 19th selection in the 1999 AFL Draft, Green played in a losing Grand Final in his first season. In 2010 he won the club's best and fairest award and was the club's leading goalkicker, with many commentators stating he was unlucky to miss out on All-Australian selection. Green was named Melbourne's captain for the next season, but the appointment was short-lived as he held the position for only one year. He also represented the Australian International rules football team in 2004, 2010 and 2011, captaining the side in 2011.

Jack Watts is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL). A utility, 1.96 metres tall and weighing 93 kilograms (205 lb), Watts played in any position on the ground and has played for extended periods of time as a forward, defender, wingman, and back-up ruckman. He was a talented sportsman at a young age, playing both basketball and Australian rules football. In basketball, he represented Victoria and Australia, before giving up the sport to focus on football. He was recognised as a gifted footballer at a young age when he represented Victoria at the under-12 level. He went on to represent the state in the 2008 AFL Under 18 Championships as a bottom-aged player, where he won the Larke Medal as the best player in the championships and was named as the full-forward in the All-Australian team.

Mark Neeld is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. He was senior coach of the Melbourne Football Club from 2012 to 2013, when he was sacked on 17 June after much scrutiny. He has since held the coveted position of Geelong Cats Jr Basketball Club CEO where he is a well renowned coach of elite post play. Neeld quit as the Head of Player Development at the Essendon Football Club on 14 May 2018

2013 AFL season 117th season of the Australian Football League (AFL)

The 2013 AFL season was the 117th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 22 March until 28 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs.

The 2013 Melbourne Football Club season was the club's 114th year in the VFL/AFL since it began in 1897.

Gillon McLachlan Australian Rules football executive, born 1973

Gillon McLachlan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Football League. He was appointed to the role in 2014, succeeding Andrew Demetriou, having previously served as his deputy, and will step down at the end of the 2022 AFL season.

The 2016 Melbourne Football Club season was the club's 117th year in the VFL/AFL since it began in 1897. In Paul Roos' final season as senior coach before succession coach, Simon Goodwin took over, the club won ten matches out of twenty-two to finish eleventh on the ladder out of eighteen teams and finished on 97.6 percent. It was the club's best season on the field since the 2011 season in which the club finished with eight wins, thirteen losses and a draw, to finish with a percentage of 85.3.
