Phil E. Riesen was a Democratic member of the Utah State House of Representatives,representing the state's 36th house district from 2006 to 2010. At the end of his second term,he chose not to run for reelection.
Riesen studied at the University of Oklahoma.
Riesen was for many years a versatile broadcaster,at stations including KIFI in Idaho Falls,Idaho and KALL and KSL in Salt Lake City,Utah. His son Rob is a well-established northern Utah broadcaster.
Riesen returned to broadcasting as a newsman on Salt Lake City-Ogden station KLO in 2012.

He previously served as the Attorney General of Idaho from 1991 to 1995, the first Native American elected to the position, and spent two terms in the Idaho House of Representatives. In 2012, he was called as a general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As of 2022, Echo Hawk is the last Democrat to have served as Attorney General of Idaho.
KJZZ-TV is an independent television station in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside CBS affiliate KUTV and MyNetworkTV affiliate KMYU in St. George.
