Piper Race Cars is an American racecar constructor. The company was founded by Don Sievenpiper in 1991.
Piper Race Cars was founded in 1991 by Don Sievenpiper. He designed the Piper DF2 to race in Formula Ford 1600 in 1992. The DF2 was followed by the DF3 in 1998. The Piper DF3 won the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the Formula Ford class in 2010 and 2012 with Tim Kautz. In 2002 the DF3 was replaced by the DF5. Tim Kautz won 2 races in the F1600 Championship Series in Piper DF5 which placed him second in the championship. The Piper DF5 won the Runoffs in 2002 and 2003 in the Formula Ford class with Justin Pritchard. The runoffs were almost won again in 2004, but a bolt in the brakes came undone and the car went flying off the track. After that a Formula 2000 variation was made. In 2007 and 2008 Justin Pritchard won the AARC F1000 race at Road Atlanta, and was winning at another race in 2008 until an engine blow took him out of contention. Don Sievenpiper sold the company in 2007 to Fast Forward Components. In 2011 a Piper DF5 driven by Brian Novak won the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the Formula 1000 class. Piper Race Cars is currently owed by Doug Learned and is located in Sand City CA.

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is a non-profit American automobile club and sanctioning body supporting road racing, rallying, and autocross in the United States. Formed in 1944, it runs many programs for both amateur and professional racers.
Formula Ford, also known as F1600 and Formula F, is an entry-level class of single seater, open-wheel formula racing. The various championships held across the world form an important step for many prospective Formula One drivers. Formula Ford has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone into formula racing after karting. The series typically sees career-minded drivers enter alongside amateurs and enthusiasts. Success in Formula Ford can lead directly to other junior formula series such as a Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Three, or the W Series for female drivers.

Formula Enterprises or Formula SCCA is a class of open wheel race car sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America. A spec racing class, all chassis are produced by SCCA Enterprises in association with Van Diemen and include a sealed Mazda MZR powerplant. The chassis can also be fitted with closed-wheel bodywork and converted into a sportscar to race in C Sports Racer or the L3 class of IMSA Prototype Lites. For the 2012 season, the car was also accepted into the U.S. F2000 National Championship's National Class. According to the manufacturer's website, as of March 2010, 120 of the cars have been sold.

The North American Formula 1000 Championship is a motor racing series based on SCCA's open wheel Formula 1000 rules. It was founded in 2017 after the US Formula 1000 Championship ended in 2016. It serves somewhat as a successor to all the previous F1000 championships as all of those who were involved in its inception were part of either organizing or participating in all of the previous F1000 championships.

Colchester Racing Developments produced Merlyn racing cars from 1960 to 1979. The company was founded by Clive Maskrey, Selwyn Hayward and continued by Hayward's brother, Clive. When the manufacture of Merlyn racing cars stopped, Clive Hayward continued to manufacture Merlyn parts as CRD Tool and Engineering Ltd. This company stopped trading in November 2015. Still, Clive Hayward continues to run Colchester Racing Developments, manufacturing Merlyn components and carrying out chassis repairs.
