The Pitbull/Public Enemy Memorial Cup was a professional wrestling memorial event produced by the Pro Wrestling Unplugged (PWU) promotion, which took place on October 20, 2006, at Viking Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show was held in honor of the deceased members of The Pitbulls (Anthony Durante) and The Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge), both popular tag teams during the early years of Extreme Championship Wrestling, and featured some of the top tag teams on the independent circuit in an 8-team tournament. In keeping with ECW tradition, all matches were no-countout/no-disqualification. [1] Twelve professional wrestling matches were featured on the event's card, with three including championships. Professional wrestling is a form of performance art and entertainment that combines athletics with theatrical performance. It takes the form of events, held by touring companies, that mimic a title-match combat sport. The unique form of sport portrayed is fundamentally based on classical and "catch" wrestling, with modern additions of striking attacks, strength-based holds and throws and acrobatic maneuvers. Much of these derive from the influence of various international martial arts. An additional aspect of combat with improvised weaponry is sometimes included.

A professional wrestling promotion is a company or business that regularly performs shows involving professional wrestling. "Promotion" also describes a role which entails management, advertising and logistics of running a wrestling event. Within the convention of the show, the company is a sports governing body which sanctions wrestling matches and gives authority to the championships and is responsible for determining the divisions, rankings, etc. of wrestlers. In truth, the company serves as a touring theatre troupe, as well as event promotion body for its own events.

The Pitbulls Professional wrestling tag team

The Pitbulls were a professional wrestling tag team that consisted of "Pitbull #1" Gary Wolfe and "Pitbull #2" Anthony Durante. They were best known for their tenure in Extreme Championship Wrestling, where they were one-time Tag Team Champions. In addition to tag team success, both members were each one time Television Champions as well.

All Money Is Legal (K-Murda and K-Pusha) won the tournament by winning three matches at the event. Over the course of the evening, they defeated The S.A.T. (Joel Maximo and Jose Maximo) in the quarter-finals, The Backseat Boyz (Johnny Kashmere and Trent Acid) in the semi-finals and The Rottweilers (Homicide and Ricky Reyes) in the final match. Tod Gordon and Gary Wolfe, the sole surviving member of The Pitbulls, presented the 7-foot trophy to All Money Is Legal following their victory. K-Murda and K-Pusha were joined in the ring by The Backseat Boyz and The S.A.T. who congratulated the winners by lifting them on to their shoulders while The Public Enemy's theme music played in the background. The S.A.T. Professional wrestling stable

The S.A.T. was a professional wrestling tag team mostly seen in independent promotions that consisted of brothers Jose Maximo and Joel Maximo who were both born in Brooklyn, New York. The team was occasionally joined by their cousin; Amazing Red.

The Backseat Boyz were a professional wrestling tag team that consisted of Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere who competed in Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Unplugged, Combat Zone Wrestling, Assault Championship Wrestling, the Premier Wrestling Federation, Jersey All Pro Wrestling, and Japan together. They were the first team in history to hold both the ROH Tag Team Championship and the CZW Tag Team Championship.

Johnny Kashmere is an American professional wrestler, best known as one half of The Backseat Boyz, along with Trent Acid. Kashmere has competed in Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Unplugged, Combat Zone Wrestling, Assault Championship Wrestling, Premier Wrestling Federation, NWA New Jersey and in Japan, Central America, Europe and Alaska.

Several other matches were held at the event in addition to the tournament. The main event was a standard wrestling match for the PWU Heavyweight Championship between the champion, Devon Moore, and the challenger, Azrieal, in which Azrieal won by countout. The undercard also featured Corporal Robinson successfully defending the PWU Hardcore Championship in three consecutive matches with victories over Aramis, KC Blade and Pete Hunter. The other match was for the PWU Unified Women's Intergender Championship, in which Mercedes Martinez successfully defended the belt in an intergender match against Detox and was awarded the match via disqualification. Mercedes Martinez is an American professional wrestler, currently performing for Shimmer Women Athletes, as well as numerous independent promotions including World Xtreme Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Women Superstars Uncensored, and Rise Wrestling. She is a former three-time WSU Champion, two-time Shimmer Champion. She is also the current WXW Women's champion the current Phoenix Of RISE Champion and World Association of Wrestling's Bellatrix World Champion.

Intergender wrestling, also known as mixed wrestling, is a type of professional wrestling match between a man and a woman, and may also refer to tag team matches with both men and women on each team.

A number of websites have given the show positive reviews; 411mania.com rated the event a 6.0 [6] and OnlineWorldofWrestling.com a 7.5 out of 10. [5] Brett Schwan of WrestlingClothesline.com called the event "a very enjoyable DVD". [4]

1. ^ Mark Briscoe was injured during the quarter-final match when his brother Jay accidentally hit him in the face with a steel chair. It was later announced that several of Mark's teeth had been knocked out and had to be taken to the hospital. Jay chose to continue the tournament with Joker, however, his new tag team partner turned on him allowing The Rotweillers to advance to the final.

The show was held in memory of Big Dick Dudley, who died of kidney failure at his apartment in Copiague, New York on May 16, 2002, with a portion of the proceeds going to his family. A collection from the audience was taken up during the shows as well. The Mike Lockwood Memorial Show was a professional wrestling memorial event produced by the Pro Wrestling Iron (PWI) promotion, which took place on November 15, 2003 at the Lathrop Community Center in Lathrop, California. It was the first of two memorial shows held in memory of Mike Lockwood, who committed suicide at his home in Navarre, Florida on two weeks earlier, with a second show, the Mike Lockwood Memorial Tournament, run by New Breed Wrestling Association in South Bend, Indiana two years later. Acid-Fest: A Tribute to Trent Acid was an interpromotional professional wrestling memorial event co-produced by the Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) promotions, which took place on July 10, 2010, at the Viking Hall in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show was held in honor of Trent Acid, one-half of the independent wrestling tag team The Backseat Boyz with Johnny Kashmere, who died of an accidental drug overdose at his home in Philadelphia less than a month before. It was the second such event held at the venue following the Pitbull/Public Enemy Memorial Cup, an event The Backseat Boyz had participated at, in 2006.
