President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability

The President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability was the successor to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy (Bush, January 22, 2008). (Obama On January 29, 2010, the President signed Executive Order 13530). The last meeting of committee was in November 2012, and the Council officially ended on January 29, 2013. Its mission is to "improve Americans' understanding of financial products and terms, expand financial access, and provide appropriate and robust consumer protection." [1] It is operated by the U.S. Treasury Department.

One member of this council is John Hope Bryant, who is an American financial literacy [2] and poverty eradication activist, and "silver rights" entrepreneur. Bryant is the founder, chairman and CEO of nonprofit Operation HOPE. [1] [3] [4]

Eldar Shafir is a Princeton University psychology professor who focuses on behavioral economics. His appointment to the Council was announced April 9, 2012. [5]

Bryant is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of nonprofit Operation HOPE, chief executive officer of Bryant Group Ventures and The Promise Homes Company, co-founder of Global Dignity, advisor to business and government and author of bestselling books on economics and leadership. He served as a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability, the vice chair on the U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and as the chairman of the Committee on the Underserved.

Randal Quarles

Randal Keith Quarles is an American government official, private equity investor and attorney who has served as a member and vice chair for supervision of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors since October 2017. Previously he was founder and head of The Cynosure Group, a private investment firm, and a former partner of The Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest private equity firms. From August 2001 until October 2006, he held several financial policy posts in the George W. Bush administration, ultimately serving as Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance.

The Middle Class Working Families Task Force (MCWFTF) is a United States Federal Government initiative, established in 2009 via presidential memorandum. It was one of the earliest innovations of the Obama-Biden administration. Jared Bernstein was appointed the Executive Director, responsible for direct management of the project; while Vice-President Joseph Biden was appointed Chairman, with final oversight and responsibility for the work. The purpose of the task force is to empower the American middle class and to explore the vision and possibilities of green jobs. The President’s Management Council is an executive branch reform group in the United States. Although established by the Administration of President Bill Clinton in 1993, the concept for this council, and its purpose, has existed in various forms since the Reagan administration. The group is made up of high-ranking administrative officials and tasked with improving management within the Executive Office, resolving specific interagency management issues and produce mechanisms for the efficient exchange of information throughout the executive branch. Beth Kobliner is an American personal finance commentator and journalist, and author of the New York Times bestsellers Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and Thirties. and Make Your Kid a Money Genius . In 2010, she was appointed by President Obama to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability, and was instrumental in developing the council's Money as You Grow initiative. The site, MoneyAsYouGrow.org, has reached over one million visitors. In February 2014, Kobliner was appointed by President Obama to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.

Ted Gonder is an American entrepreneur and the co-founding CEO of Moneythink, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the financial capability of young adults through technology-enhanced peer mentorship. Until July 2015, he was also a member of the U.S. President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.
