Priscilla Thompson is an American journalist serving as a correspondent based in Houston, Texas for NBC News. She was previously based in New York. She previously worked at WPDE in Myrtle Beach and CNN, working as an associate producer. [1]

Early life and education

Born in Houston, Texas, Thompson attended and graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. While at the university, she interned at KXAN in Austin, Texas. She then went to Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, majoring in broadcast journalism, documentary filmmaking, and holds a Master of Science in journalism, which she graduated with as well. In addition, she also taught at Teach For America in Houston. [2]

Career

In 2016, Thompson joined WPDE, an ABC affiliate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as a multimedia journalist. [3]

She left in 2017, joining CNN as a production assistant and associate producer. [4] [5]

Thompson joined NBC News in 2019, starting as a 2020 campaign embedded reporter. [6]

Thompson was promoted to full-time correspondent in 2022 and is based in Houston, Texas. [7]

Awards and recognition

Priscilla is an associate of the National Association of Black Journalists, which honored her journalism and reporting with an Emmy nomination, along with recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the National Press Foundation and others. [8]
