John K. Samson

John Kristjan Samson is a Canadian musician from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is a singer-songwriter and best known as the frontman of the Canadian indie folk/rock band The Weakerthans, who are self-described as "cryogenically frozen." He also played bass in the punk band Propagandhi during the mid-1990s. Today, Samson is making music under his own name - John K. Samson. His latest solo album, Winter Wheat, was released in 2016.

Propagandhi is a Canadian punk rock band formed in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1986 by guitarist Chris Hannah and drummer Jord Samolesky. The band is currently located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and completed by bassist Todd Kowalski and guitarist Sulynn Hago.

I'd Rather Be Flag-Burning is a 1995 10" split between Propagandhi and I Spy on Recess Records. A CD version was also released in collaboration between G7 Welcoming Committee Records and A-Hole Records. The songs were rereleased in 1998 by G7 Welcoming Committee Records on two separate compilation albums: Propagandhi's Where Quantity Is Job #1 and I Spy's Perversity Is Spreading... It's About Time!.

Recess Records

Recess Records is an independent record label founded in 1988. Label founder Todd Congelliere initially made 100 cassettes of F.Y.P's songs and sold them at skateboard contests. Two years later, Congelliere released a vinyl record, F.Y.P's Extra Credit, an 11 song 7-inch record, and the label took off from there.

F.Y.P, the Five Year Plan, was a punk rock band founded in 1989 by Todd Congelliere, a predecessor to his more recent bands Toys That Kill and Underground Railroad to Candyland. During its history, it had a total of 20 different members.

Michel P. Samson is a Canadian politician, who represented the electoral district of Cape Breton-Richmond, formerly Richmond in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1998 to 2017. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.

I Spy was a Canadian hardcore punk band founded in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1991, relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1994, and disbanded in 1996. Combining childish humour and politically oriented emotive hardcore, the group released several records on Recess Records and toured internationally. <i>Little Pictures</i> 1995 EP by John K. Samson

Little Pictures is a solo EP recorded between 1993 and 1994 by John K. Samson, then of Propagandhi. It was released in 1995 as a split album with Painted Thin's Small Acts of Love and Rebellion. It was one of G7 Welcoming Committee's first releases, in a PET film pouch. Samson later left Propagandhi and formed The Weakerthans. All six songs also appeared on his solo demo tape Slips and Tangles.
