The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab is a governmental organization responsible for disaster management in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The PDMA works under the guidance of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan. [2]

The primary role of the PDMA is to enhance the preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities of the provincial government in the face of various disasters, including natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, droughts, and epidemics, as well as man-made disasters such as industrial accidents and terrorist incidents. In 2023, he left the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and was appointed its president along with his son, Moonis Elahi, and other ten former PML(Q) MPAs over political rifts with the party president, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He was the former president of the Punjab Division of the PML(Q).

Shahdadkot is the most populated and largest Tehsil of Qambar Shahdadkot District of Sindh, Pakistan. It was named after the town founder Shahdad Khan Khuhawar. It is located around 51 kilometres northwest of Larkana and 34 kilometers north of Qambar. The town is in close proximity to three districts of Balochistan namely Khuzdar, Jhal Magsi and Jaffarabad in the west and north of the district. It is linked on the M8 motorway route between Gwadar and Ratodero.

Severe storm hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan on the night of 26 April 2015. It caused considerable damage in the cities of Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda. The storm featured heavy rains accompanied by hail and high-speed winds of over 120 kilometers per hour. As a result of the storm's damaging effects, 45 people were killed and over 200 were wounded.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is a provincial government organization, which deals with natural or man-made disasters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. PDMA's mandate is to engage in activities concerning to all four stages of Disaster Management Spectrum.

National Disaster Management Act, 2010 was passed by Parliament of Pakistan in 2010, it received the assent of the President on 8 December 2010. The Act applies to whole Pakistan including tribal areas of FATA. The Act was passed in backdrop of 2010 Floods in Pakistan and strengthen Disaster Management system.

From February to April 2019, widespread flash flooding affected large parts of Pakistan, most severely in Balochistan, KPK, Punjab, and other provinces. Pakistan has been hit by three major waves of rain and flooding over the course of more than one month. The first wave of rain began on 20 February, leading to flooding in to Khyber and Balochistan, therefore many villages and several cities have been evacuated, and more than 1,500 families has been rescued alone in Balochistan and many in other states. The 20 February rain and thunderstorms caused flash floods in the Lasbela area. The main areas affected were Turbat, Tump, Nasirabad and Dasht where 300 people were displaced due to the flood. These people were then moved to camps established by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Casualties have came mostly due to roof collapsing amid heavy rains and flash flooding. Khyber Pakhtunwkha has witnessed the most deaths till now, 40, alongside Balochsitan has faced 26 casualties with more than 9 in Punjab and other places. Due to rain, flood and storm casualties are increasing.

The 1992 India–Pakistan floods was a deadly flood caused by a five days long heavy monsoon rains and severe weather that occurred on 7 September 1992 across the north-Pakistan of Azad Kashmir, North-West Frontier Province and Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir. Severe floods left at least 2,496 fatalities, including 2,000 deaths in Pakistan administered state, 296 in Punjab province, and 200 in northern India with several others missing. The floods swept away more than 12,672 villages and several people were buried alive due to landslides near mountains. Punjab, that shares its borders with Azad Kashmir, suffered a heavy agriculture loss in its economic history.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is an agency of the Government of Balochistan to deal with both natural and manmade disasters. It was formed after the promulgation of the NDMA Act 2010.
