R.T. Ramachandran is an Indian politician and Member of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from Kunnam. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Kunnam constituency in 2016 election. [1] [2]
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu and union territory of Puducherry. AIADMK is a dravidian party founded by M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The tenth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 24 June 1991. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) – Indian National Congress (INC) alliance won the elections in a landslide and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa became the chief minister. This was her first term in office. The united strength of AIADMK, the alliance with the Congress, and the wave of public sympathy in the wake of Rajiv Gandhi assassination combined to produce a massive victory for the AIADMK. K. V. Kandaswamy or k.v.k was an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Kinathukadavu constituency in 1977, 1980 and 1984 elections. He was widely considered to be the right hand of the CM, Dr M. G. Ramachandran. In the 1977 election he defeated the then DMK cabinet minister M. Kannappan. Kandaswamy was very popular among his people and lived without any caste difference. It was said that there were only two houses in Tamil Nadu which do not close, one being that of M. G. Ramachandran and the other being his own house where he lived alone till his death in 2008. He was a notorious and aggressive campaigner often defying the party lines and the CM, earning him the name "Negamam Napolean". This name was also used in the film Amaidhi Padai.

The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a reduced majority. DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011, AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, won a simple majority and formed the government, while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. This was the last election that J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi contested, as they both died in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
V. N. P. Venkatraman is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Alandur constituency. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party after defeating Panruti S. Ramachandran in a by-election in 2014. Ramachandran had resigned the seat in December 2013 at the same time that he resigned from the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam.

After the demise of M.G. Ramachandran the Governor appointed V.R. Nedunchezhiyan as Chief Minister till the election of new Leader by the Party. Consequent on the election of Janaki Ramachandran as the Leader of the AIADMK Legislative Party, the interim Council under Nedunchezhiyan resigned and a new Ministry with came in to existence on 7th January 1988.The cabinet was soon dismissed over controversy regarding vote of confidence in the assembly.
