Ra'Shaad Samples (born December 11, 1994) is an American football coach who is currently the Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs coach at the University of Oregon. He previously served as running backs coach for the Los Angeles Rams for part of a season. A native of Dallas, Texas. He previously served as the assistant head coach at SMU for 2 seasons (2019-2021). [1]
Samples was a former four-star wide receiver at Oklahoma State who later transferred to play at Houston. [2] His playing career was cut short when he was forced to medically retire due to suffering a number of concussions. [3]
Samples was hired as an offensive assistant at SMU in 2019, serving as the program's top recruiter rather coaching a position. [4] He was officially promoted to running backs coach and recruiting coordinator in 2020, and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2021. [5] [6]
In late 2021, Samples left SMU and was announced as the assistant head coach and running backs coach for TCU, joining new head coach Sonny Dykes. [7]
Around three months after joining the staff at TCU, Samples left for the NFL to become the Los Angeles Rams running backs coach for the 2022 season in March 2021. [8]
After 6 months with the Rams, Samples left the Rams before the end of the 2022 season to return to college as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Arizona State for the 2023 season. [9]
After the 2023 season with Arizona State University, Samples left Arizona State to join Oregon as running backs coach and assistant head coach in April 2024. [10]
June Sheldon Jones III is an American football coach and former player who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Sea Dragons. Jones was the head football coach at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1999 to 2007, and was the head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2008 until he resigned on September 8, 2014. He coached in the National Football League (NFL) for three years as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 1996, plus a ten-game stint as interim head coach of the San Diego Chargers in 1998; he also spent 1+1⁄2 seasons as head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Jones was the general manager and head coach of the Houston Roughnecks.
Herman Edwards Jr. is an American football coach and former player. He played cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles. Edwards was also a head coach in the NFL from 2001 to 2008 with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. Following the conclusion of his NFL coaching career, Edwards was a football analyst at ESPN from 2009 to 2017. He later served as the head coach of Arizona State Sun Devils from 2018 to 2022.
Michael Joseph Stoops is an American football coach and former player, who is the inside linebackers coach at the University of Kentucky. Stoops also served as the head football coach at the University of Arizona from 2003 until his firing during the 2011 season. He previously served as an assistant football coach at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University, and University of Oklahoma. He is the younger brother of Bob Stoops, the former head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, and the older brother of Mark Stoops, head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats football program.
