Last Comic Standing is an American reality television talent competition show on NBC that aired from June 1, 2003, to August 9, 2010, and again in 2014 and 2015. Each season a comedian from an initially large group of hopefuls was picked as a winner. For the first seven seasons, the winner received a cash prize and a television special; for season eight in 2014, the winner won a cash prize, a talent deal with NBC, and a half-hour scripted project developed by Universal Television.

Afghan Star was a reality television show competition that searched for the most talented singers across Afghanistan. The program was broadcast on the TOLO channel. Afghan Star premiered in 2005, four years after the fall of the Taliban, which had outlawed singing in 1996, and ended after fifteen seasons in 2021 after the Taliban regained power and banned music. It was one of the most-watched shows in Afghanistan.

On 5 August 2006, a native of Marang, Terengganu, Mohammad Faizal Ramly won the season, defeating runner-up Lotter P. Edwin Edin. Faizal remained the last male winner until the seventh season.

AC Mizal continued to host the show, while Adlin Aman Ramlie, Edry Hashim and Khatijah Hashim joined the judging panel following the departures of Fauziah Ahmad Daud and Ning Baizura. The promotional catch phrase of this season is "Bring Out Your Self-Transformation".

Ahmad Nabil Ahmad is a Malaysian entertainer, comedian and actor. He worked as a motorcycle courier before winning the 2008 season of comedy competition Raja Lawak. Nabil has since won an award for hosting multiple television programs, beginning with MeleTOP in 2012, which he still hosts. He further expanded his roles by becoming a producer in 2017, and a film writer and director in 2018.
