Ram's Horn is a family restaurant restaurant chain in the Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area. [1] [2] It was founded by three brothers, Gus, Gene, and Steve Kasapis, with the first location opening in 1967. [3] There are now 25 locations in Metro Detroit. Most stores are independently owned. In 2013, a location in Livonia, Michigan burned down. [4]
Livonia is a city in the northwest part of Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a large suburb with an array of traditional neighborhoods connected to the metropolitan area by freeways. The population was 96,942 at the 2010 census, making it Michigan's ninth largest municipality. The municipality is a part of Metro Detroit, and is located approximately 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Detroit, and less than two miles (3 km) from the western city limits of Detroit.
Madonna University is a private Catholic liberal arts university in Livonia, Michigan. Conducted by the Felician Sisters, it has extension campuses in Metro Detroit in southwest Detroit, Orchard Lake, and Clinton Township at the Macomb University Center. Madonna University also has a campus at the University Center in Gaylord, about 225 miles (362 km) north of Livonia. Livonia Marketplace is an open-air shopping mall in the Detroit suburb of Livonia, Michigan. Opened in 2010, the center is anchored by Kohl's, Sears, and Walmart. It occupies the site of the former Livonia Mall, which was an enclosed mall built in 1964. Livonia Mall lost the majority of its tenants in the 2000s, including its previous anchor stores of Crowley's, Mervyns and Children's Palace. The mall was closed in May 2008, with only the Sears remaining from the original property.
Wonderland Village is an outdoor shopping center in Livonia, Michigan, United States, a suburb of Detroit. The center is located at the southwest corner of Middlebelt Road and Plymouth Road, approximately one mile south of I-96. Opened in 1959 as the outdoor Wonderland Center, it originally featured Montgomery Ward and Federal's as its major anchor stores. A 1980s renovation enclosed the formerly open-air complex and renamed it Wonderland Mall, by which point the anchor stores were Montgomery Ward, Service Merchandise, and Target. This configuration lasted throughout the late 1990s, by which point the closure of both Service Merchandise and Montgomery Ward had led to a number of vacancies. The center reopened officially in 2007.
Samuel F. Williams was an American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was a 24th round selection of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1956 NFL Draft out of Michigan State University. Williams would play for the Rams (1959), the Detroit Lions (1960–1965), and the Atlanta Falcons (1966–1967). He died in Livonia, Michigan, after a short illness.

In 2004, Metro Detroit had one of the largest settlements of Middle Eastern people, including Jews, Chaldo-Assyrians, and Arabs, in the United States. As of 2007 about 300,000 people in Southeastern Michigan traced their descent from the Middle East. Dearborn's sizeable Arab community consists largely of Lebanese and many Assyrian/Chaldean/Syriac who immigrated for jobs in the auto industry in the 1920s, and of more recent Yemenis and Iraqis. In 2010 the four Metro Detroit counties had at least 200,000 people of Middle Eastern origin, excluding Jews. Bobby Ghosh of TIME said that some estimates gave much larger numbers. From 1990 to 2000 the percentage of people speaking Arabic in the home increased by 106% in Wayne County, 99.5% in Macomb County, and 41% in Oakland County.
In 2002, there were 6,413 people of Japanese origin, including Japanese citizens and Japanese Americans, in the Wayne-Oakland-Macomb tri-county area in Metro Detroit, making them the fifth largest Asian ethnic group there. In that year, within an area stretching from Sterling Heights to Canton Township in the shape of a crescent, most of the ethnic Japanese lived in the center. Hinoki International School was a two-way Japanese-English language immersion elementary school in Livonia, Michigan in Metro Detroit which opened in 2010 as a charter school. It closed in 2015 before a planned opening of a new Farmington Hills, Michigan campus.
