ReLINE Software was a German game development company founded by Uwe Grabosch and Holger Gehrmann in Hannover in 1987.
The company acted first as a developer for Softgold, Rainbow Arts, Golden Games, Magic Bytes, micro-partner, and Robtek; the company later became significantly more independent and co-published games with Magic Byte.
Titles from the eighties include: Operation Hongkong, Drum Studio, Extensor, Hollywood Poker, Space Port, Amegas, Crystal Hammer, Hollywood Poker Pro, Black Gold (also known as Oil Imperium), Dyter-07 , and Window Wizard (also known as Window Willy).
Games of the early nineties include Legend of Faerghail , Fate: Gates of Dawn and Centerbase .
Holger Gehrmann and Olaf Patzenhauer continued reLINE Software as a software label in 1993. The games Biing! and Biing! 2 originated from this time. However, the planned development of Oil Imperium 2 was cancelled.
ReLINE Software closed in 2004. In February 2008, Holger Gehrmann fell to his death from a seven-story office building months before his 40th birthday. Olaf Patzenhauer died some time between late 2011 and mid-2012.

Ubisoft Blue Byte GmbH is a German video game holding company owned by Ubisoft. It was founded in October 1988 by Thomas Hertzler and Lothar Schmitt as a developer and was best known for developing the Anno and The Settlers series. The studio was acquired by Ubisoft in 2001. Related Designs was merged into Blue Byte in 2013, and a third studio in Berlin was established in 2018. Since 2019, Ubisoft Blue Byte acts as the parent company of Ubisoft's three German studios, which became branded as Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Mainz and Ubisoft Berlin. By 2020, the "Blue Byte" name was phased out.

David Mullich is an American game producer and designer best known for creating the cult classic 1980 adventure game The Prisoner, producing the 1995 adaptation I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, and developing many games in the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. The Settlers II, originally released as The Settlers II: Veni, Vidi, Vici, is a city-building game with real-time strategy elements, developed and published by Blue Byte Software. Released in Germany for MS-DOS in April 1996, and in the United Kingdom and North America in August, it is the second game in The Settlers series, following The Settlers (1993). In December, Blue Byte released an expansion, The Settlers II Mission CD, featuring new single-player campaign missions, new maps for both single-player and multiplayer modes, and a map editor. In October 1997, they released The Settlers II: Gold Edition, containing the original game, plus the Mission CD expansion, along with minor graphical enhancements and gameplay tweaks. The Gold Edition was also ported to Mac OS in 1997. In 2006, an enhanced remake, The Settlers II , was released for Microsoft Windows. In 2007, the Gold Edition was ported to the Nintendo DS, under the title The Settlers, released in Germany in July, and in the United Kingdom and North America in August. Although adapted for the dual-screen display of the DS, and with controls specifically programmed for use with the DS stylus, the gameplay, game mechanics, graphics and storyline are unaltered. In 2009, the original Gold Edition was released on GOG.com, and in 2018, it was re-released for Microsoft Windows as The Settlers II: Veni, Vidi, Vici - History Edition.
Celal Kandemiroglu is a graphic artist in the German computer games industry. He was born in 1953 in Turkey and made his first comic when he was five years old. After graduating at the fine arts academy in Istanbul he started to offer his comics to the Bastei-Verlag in Germany around 1978. Since 1985 he has created many video and movie covers until he became a cover artist for the German computer game industry in 1988.

Windows 1.0 is a graphical personal computer operating environment developed by Microsoft. Microsoft had worked with Apple Computer to develop applications for Apple's January 1984 original Macintosh, the first mass-produced personal computer with a graphical user interface (GUI) that enabled users to see user friendly icons on screen. Windows 1.0 was released on November 20, 1985, as the first version of the Microsoft Windows line. It runs as a graphical, 16-bit multi-tasking shell on top of an existing MS-DOS installation. It provides an environment which can run graphical programs designed for Windows, as well as existing MS-DOS software. Its development was spearheaded by the company founder Bill Gates after he saw a demonstration of a similar software suite known as Visi On at COMDEX.
