"Ride It On"/"Lions After Slumber" is a 7"split single by Delays and The Veils,released in November 2003 to promote the album Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before... a compilation of interpretations by current Rough Trade bands of classic songs released by the label.
"Lions After Slumber" was originally released in October 1981 as the B-side of The "Sweetest Girl" (in UK,US and Germany) by Scritti Politti. [1] The title and final line is a quote from Shelley's poem The Masque of Anarchy ,often cited as the first modern statement of the principle of nonviolent resistance. “Rise,like lions after slumber / In unvanquishable number!” [2]
Scritti Politti are a British band,originally formed in 1977 in Leeds,England,by Welsh singer-songwriter Green Gartside. He is the only member of the band to have remained throughout the group's history.

"Sweetest Sin" is a song by American singer Jessica Simpson. It was written by Diane Warren and produced by Ric Wake for Simpson's third studio album,In This Skin (2003). It was released as the album's first single on July 22,2003 through Columbia Records. The R&B song,speaks about what would be the sweetest sin between a couple. "Sweetest Sin" received positive reviews from critics,with some calling it a catchy tune and an "ode to booty knocking". Simpson performed the song on her Reality Tour Live (2004). An accompanying music video,directed by Constantine Paraskavopoulos,showed Simpson swaying on a beach and flirting with singer Nick Lachey during the whole video.
C81 was a cassette compiled for the British music paper NME in 1981 and released in conjunction with the record label Rough Trade. Featuring a number of contemporary musical acts and performers,it was intended to mark the first five years of the independent label movement in the UK record industry and Rough Trade itself. White Bread Black Beer is the fifth studio album by British pop band Scritti Politti,released in the UK on 28 May 2006 by Rough Trade Records,and in the US on 25 July 2006 by Nonesuch Records. It is effectively a solo album by the group's only permanent member,Green Gartside,as it was written and recorded at his home in Dalston in east London and he sang and played all the instruments on the album. The album was Green's first for Rough Trade since leaving them in somewhat acrimonious circumstances in 1983,following the release of Scritti Politti's debut album Songs to Remember. Since then Scritti Politti had been signed to Virgin Records and the previous three albums were known for their highly-produced sound. The album's recording had to be delayed for nine months due to frontman Green Gartside's collapse and illness,and then after completion its release was delayed for a further year at the band's request. It was eventually released on 3 September 1982 by Rough Trade Records,peaking at number 12 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was heavily influenced by disco,reggae,and soul music,and marked the beginning of Scritti Politti's move from their underground DIY post-punk sound towards commercial pop music.

It was released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the legendary indie label,in late 2003. A limited edition 7" split single featuring "Ride It On" by Delays and "Lions After Slumber" by The Veils was released to promote the album.
