Robert Cuthbertson

Robert Melville Cuthbertson (18 June 1869 – 4 July 1940) was an Australian politician.

He was born in Bacchus Marsh to builder James Cuthbertson and Jessie Watson. He was educated locally and became an accountant and then an investor. He married Annie Robertson around 1907; they had one son. From 1912 to 1933 he served as a member of South Melbourne City Council, with a period as mayor from 1918 to 1919. He was a founding member of the Nationalist Party and was federal treasurer of the party in 1925. In 1927 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Albert Park. He was appointed Assistant Minister of Public Instruction in 1928, but he lost his seat in 1929. Cuthbertson died in 1940.^[1]

The City of South Melbourne was a local government area about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia, on the south bank of the Yarra River. The city covered an area of 8.91 square kilometres (3.44 sq mi), and existed from 1855 until 1994.

The Victorian Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Victoria in Australia; the upper house being the Victorian Legislative Council. Both houses sit at Parliament House in Spring Street, Melbourne.

Robert Shannon King, OBE was an Australian politician. Born in Warracknabeal, Victoria, he attended Carey Grammar School in Melbourne before serving in the military 1940-45. He returned to Warracknabeal as a farmer and grazier, and became an official of the Victorian Country Party. In 1958, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Country Party member for Wimmera. On 5 October 1971 he was appointed Assistant Minister assisting the Minister for Primary Industry, holding that this position until the McMahon Government's defeat on 5 December 1972.

William Peter (Bill) Barry was a Member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Carlton from July 1932 until April 1955. Barry was a member of the Labor Party until March 1955, when he was expelled from the party as part of the Australian Labor Party split of 1955. He became, with Les Coleman in the Victorian Legislative Council, joint leader of the Australian Labor Party (Anti-Communist), a party that in 1957 became the Democratic Labor Party.
