Patten and his wife founded Zen Films in 2000 with the aim of making films that were "entertaining, thought-provoking and irreverent".
As a feature film director, Pratten has directed two features, London Voodoo (2004) and MindFlesh (2008).
London Voodoo received critical acclaim and won the Prix du Public (the Audience Award), at Cinenygma 2005 in Luxembourg, Best Feature at the Festival of Fantastic Films in Manchester, England, 2004, Best Feature at the Horror Fiesta 2004 in Warsaw, Poland, Best Acting at the Fearless Tales Genre Fest in San Francisco 2004, the Jury Award Best Feature at the Boston International Film Festival 2004 and Best Cinematography at the New York City Horror Fest 2004. Pratten also won the Best Director Award at the Fearless Tales Genre Fest in San Francisco 2004.
Mindflesh, based on the novel White Light by William Scheinman, received similar critical acclaim and Best Horror and the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival.
Pratten edited an anthology, Love and Sacrifice(2007), to accompany the UK release of London Voodoo.
Kinji Fukasaku was a Japanese film director and screenwriter who rose to prominence for his association with the Japanese New Wave. He directed the Japanese portion of the Hollywood war film Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), yakuza films including Battles Without Honor and Humanity (1973), samurai period pieces such as Shogun's Samurai (1978), the space opera Message from Space (1978), the fantasy film Samurai Reincarnation (1981), and his final film Battle Royale (2000). He used a cinema verite-inspired shaky camera technique in many of his films from the early 1970s.

Miguel Coyula Aquino is a Cuban filmmaker and writer. At age 17, he made his first short with a VHS camcorder, which led to his admittance to Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (EICTV). Since then he has won awards in his country with his short films Bailar Sobre Agujas (1999), Buena Onda, (1999), and Clase Z "Tropical" (2000). His work has always been shot on very low budgets, his features taking several years to complete, using heavy digital manipulation in postproduction.
Red Cockroaches is a Cuban film released in 2003. This feature film was the debut production of Miguel Coyula and was the result of a two-year effort on a tiny budget of $2,000. Shot entirely using a portable digital camcorder and edited on a home computer, Red Cockroaches is an example of DIY cinema. In its review, Variety called it a "A triumph of technology in the hands of a visionary with know-how..." It is the first of a planned trilogy which continues with Corazon Azul.

The film had its world premiere on 31 October 2015 at the RIP Film Festival, where it also won Best Slasher, Best Editing, and the Audience Choice Award. All Through the House stars Ashley Mary Nunes, Jessica Cameron, and Jennifer Wenger. The film was shot in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Lake Arrowhead, California over a period of 21 days in 2014. On October 4, 2016 the film was released on iTunes and other Video On Demand platforms by Gravitas Ventures.
