Grand-Am Road Racing or Grand-Am was an auto racing sanctioning body that was established in 1999 to organize road racing competitions in North America. Its primary focus was the Rolex Sports Car Series, an endurance racing championship series. It sanctioned five auto racing series. The series announced in September 2012 that it would be merging with the American Le Mans Series, which had been Grand-Am's main US competitor since its inception. The two series fully merged in 2014 under the banner of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, with the International Motor Sports Association.

The DS Automobiles Italian Open is the men's national open golf championship of Italy. It was founded in 1925 and, except for 1933 and during World War II, was played annually until 1960. After an eleven-year hiatus, it returned in 1971 when it was one of five tournaments in Continental Europe that were included on the British PGA Order of Merit circuit. The following year of that circuit has since been recognised as the first official season of the European Tour, and the Italian Open is one of few tournaments that have featured on the schedule every year. The 2018 event was the 75th edition of the championship.
The Rolex Sports Car Series was the premier series run by the Grand American Road Racing Association. It was a North American-based sports car series founded in 2000 under the name Grand American Road Racing Championship to replace the failed United States Road Racing Championship. Rolex took over as series sponsor in 2002.
The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is an annual event held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Its purpose is to provide an event in which historic racecars can compete. It takes place over the course of one weekend every mid-August. It was first established by Steve Earle in 1974 as the Monterey Historic Automobile Races. Earle organized the meeting for his friends to race their cars at Laguna Seca. The event, known as the Monterey Historics until 2010, acts as a part of Monterey Car Week, which includes the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and other events.
The 2005 Rolex Sports Car Series season was the sixth season of the Rolex Sports Car Series run by the Grand American Road Racing Association. The format was reduced to two classes, Daytona Prototypes (DP) and Grand Touring (GT). 14 races were run from February 5, 2005 to November 5, 2005. Laguna-Seca and Hermanos Rodríguez were added. It set the record for the longest Rolex season.

The season involved three classes, Daytona Prototypes (DP), Grand Touring (GT), and Super Grand Sport (SGS). Twelve races were run from January 31, 2004, to October 31, 2004.
Guillermo "Memo" Rojas Jr. is a Mexican former race car driver. Successful in American sports car racing, Rojas is a four-time series champion in the Rolex Sports Car Series, a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, and a two-time European Le Mans Series champion. He is the first Mexican driver to win a major American racing championship.
The 2008 Rolex Sports Car Series season was the ninth season of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. The 14-race championship for Daytona Prototypes (DP) and 13-race championship for Grand Touring (GT) cars began January 26, 2008, and concluded on September 20, 2008. New Jersey Motorsports Park replaced Iowa Speedway. At 15 races, it was the longest Rolex Sports Car Series season.

The 2009 Rolex Sports Car Series season is the tenth season of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. It is a 12-race schedule beginning at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and ending at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Miami has been moved from early in the schedule to the end, as it will continue in the joint weekend with the IndyCar Series race, which has also been moved to a season closing race. All races will feature both classes. The race at Miller Motorsports Park has been changed from a 1000 kilometers race to a 250-mile race. New Jersey Motorsports Park will be moved from Labor Day weekend to May 3. Infineon Raceway, Hermanos Rodriguez, and Lime Rock have been dropped from the schedule, leaving Montreal as the only race outside the US.

Eric Lux was one of the first 16-year-old drivers to finish the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, and the youngest winner in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Eric is an American businessman and race car driver. He continues to race part-time at a professional level in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. In 2022, Eric and teammates Pato O'Ward, Colton Herta, and Devlin DeFrancesco won the 60th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in the Le Mans Prototype 2 category for DragonSpeed.
The IMSA SportsCar Championship, currently known as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship under sponsorship, is a sports car racing series based in the United States and Canada and organized by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). It is a result of a merger between two existing North American sports car racing series, the American Le Mans Series and Rolex Sports Car Series. At its inception, the name was United SportsCar Championship, which subsequently changed to IMSA SportsCar Championship in 2016. Rolex SA's Tudor brand was the championship's title sponsor in 2014 and 2015, and since 2016 WeatherTech has served as title sponsor.

He is son of WeatherTech owner and car collector David MacNeil. Cooper has won the 24 Hours of Daytona, Petit Le Mans three times, 12 hours of Sebring twice, and has been on the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times. He has also won the SCCA Runoffs and is a 4 time Ferrari Challenge Champion.

The race served as the first round of the 2006 Rolex Sports Car Series. The overall winner of the race was the No. 02 Chip Ganassi/Felix Sabates owned Lexus-Riley Mk XI driven by Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon, and Casey Mears. The GT class was won by No. 36 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup from TPC Racing, driven by Randy Pobst, Spencer Pumpelly, Michael Levitas, and Ian Baas.
