The Roman Catholic Diocese of Gboko (Latin : Gbokensis(us)) is a diocese located in the city of Gboko, Benue State in the Ecclesiastical province of Abuja in Nigeria.

Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev is a tertiary institution in Yandev near Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. The college dates back to 1926 when the British colonial government established a farm training center at Yandev, then in Tiv province of the Northern Region. In 1973, the Benue-Plateau State government upgraded the center to a school of Agriculture with an initial enrollment of 23 students. In 1983, the Department of Agriculture of the Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology, Makurdi was merged with the school. In April 1991, the school was renamed the Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture, Yandev after Dr. James Akperan Orshi, the late monarch of the Tiv nation. The college now has over 2,000 students on a campus that covers 231 hectares.

Gbagbongom is the biggest settlement in Mbajor in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, North-Central Nigeria. It is located between latitude 7°5' and 7°15' north of the Equator and Longitude 9° and 9°6' east of Greenwich. The population is around 5,000, mostly Tiv people who are predominantly farmers. Common agricultural produce from here include: ground-nuts, citrus, yam, cassava, sweet potatoes, maize, guinea corn, tomatoes and pepper.

Dyegh previously served as a member of committee on Appropriations, Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Education, Gas Resources, Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Science and Technology in the 7th National Assembly. He ran for the second term as a favourite candidate, bearing the flag of the All Progressives Congress and retained his seat, following the announcement of 28 March National Assembly Polls in the 2015 General Elections in which he polled 67,463 votes to defeat his challenger, Bernard Nenger of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) with 26,329 votes. He ran for a third term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress and won. Dyegh is currently serving his 3rd term in the National Assembly and is the current House committee chairman on Human Rights.

Samuel Ioraer Ortom is a Nigerian politician, businessman, administrator and philanthropist. He was a Minister of State Trade and Investments in Nigeria during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan. Ortom was elected governor of Benue State as a member of the All Progressives Congress in 2015, though later defecting to the People's Democratic Party. He was re-elected as governor on 29 May 2019. Ortom's tenure ended on 29 May 2023, succeeded by a Catholic priest of the opposition party, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

William Avenya is a Nigerian prelate of the Catholic Church, who is the bishop of the diocese of Gboko, Nigeria. Avenya is the first bishop of the diocese since its creation on 29 December 2012. He served as secretary general of the Association of Episcopal Conferences of Anglophone West Africa (AECAWA).

The 2019 Benue State House of Assembly election was held on March 9, 2019, to elect members of the Benue State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 30 seats were up for election in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Hyacinth Iormem Alia is a Nigerian Catholic cleric and politician who has served as the governor of Benue State since 29 May 2023.
