Ron Hudson (born 1947) [1] is an American football coach. He is best known for his tenure as the offensive coordinator of the Kansas State University football team. Hudson coached at Kansas State between 1995 and 2002. He also served the offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Early career

Hudson began his coaching career at the University of California, where he served as wide receivers coach from 1972 to 1976. He worked as running backs coach at the University of Oregon from 1977 to 1978 and at UCLA from 1979 to 1981. Hudson accepted his first offensive coordinator position under Gerry Faust, serving the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 1982 to 1985. Following Faust's resignation in 1985, Hudson regrouped with a 1987 job as running backs coach at the University of Illinois. He then worked at Ohio State as John Cooper's quarterbacks coach from 1988 to 1994, before joining Kansas State in 1995. [2]

Kansas State

Hudson coached for eight years (1995–2002) at Kansas State University under head coach Bill Snyder; for the final six years Hudson served the team as offensive coordinator. [2] Hudson's teams averaged ten wins a season during his eight-year tenure at Kansas State, [1] reaching eight consecutive bowl games. [2] Kansas State led the NCAA's Division I-A in offense during the 1998 season [1] and set a school record for points scored with 610. [3] Five of Kansas State's six most productive seasons in terms of points scored occurred during Hudson's tenure with the team. [3]

Kentucky

In January 2003 Hudson left Kansas State to join the staff of Rich Brooks as offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky. Hudson resigned at Kentucky in November 2004. [4]

Subsequent career

Hudson accepted an assistant coaching position with the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa [5] until that league's dissolution in 2007. The Hamburg team won the last World Bowl in NFL Europa.

Bob Stoops American football player and coach (born 1960)

Robert Anthony Stoops is an American football coach. He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, having coached the Dallas Renegades in 2020 and re-signed for 2023.

Michael Joseph Stoops is an American football coach and former player, who is the inside linebackers coach at the University of Kentucky. Stoops also served as the head football coach at the University of Arizona from 2003 until his firing during the 2011 season. He previously served as an assistant football coach at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University, and University of Oklahoma. He is the younger brother of Bob Stoops, the interim head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, and the older brother of Mark Stoops, head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats football program. He returned to Oklahoma as the defensive coordinator in 2012. He served in the position until he was fired on October 7, 2018. After spending time at the University of Alabama as an analyst, he spent one season as the defensive coordinator of the Florida Atlantic Owls in 2021.

Mike Shula is an American football coach who is the senior offensive assistant coach for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). A graduate of the University of Alabama, he was the school's head football coach from 2003 to 2006. He was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996 to 1999, the Carolina Panthers from 2013 to 2017, and the New York Giants from 2018 to 2019.

Josh McDaniels American football coach (born 1976)

Joshua Thomas McDaniels is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He began his NFL career in 2001 with the New England Patriots, where he served as the offensive coordinator for 14 non-consecutive seasons. During McDaniels' first stint as offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2008, New England set the record for points scored and became the first team to win all 16 regular season games in 2007. In his second stint from 2012 to 2021, the Patriots won three Super Bowl titles in Super Bowl XLIX, Super Bowl LI, and Super Bowl LIII. McDaniels was also among the Patriots personnel to be present for all six of their titles during the Brady–Belichick era.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football program is a college football team that represents Western Kentucky University. The team competes at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level and represents the university as a member of Conference USA in the Eastern division. Petersen played college football at Marshall, where he broke school records and won Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year award as a senior in 1987.

David Shaw (American football) American football player and coach (born 1972)

David Lorenzo Shaw is the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team. Shaw was the team's offensive coordinator for the entire tenure of head coach Jim Harbaugh from 2007 to 2010. Previously, Shaw was a four-year letter winner playing as a wide receiver for the Cardinal from 1991 to 1994, where he was coached by Dennis Green and Bill Walsh. Prior to returning to Stanford as offensive coordinator, Shaw was Harbaugh's passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego and an assistant coach in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens.

Matt Wells (American football coach) American football player and coach (born 1973)

Matthew Scribner Wells is an American football coach and former quarterback who most recently served as the head coach at Texas Tech University. Wells previously served as the offensive coordinator and then head coach at Utah State University, where he was named Mountain West conference coach of the year in 2013 and again in 2018. He was named head coach of Texas Tech on November 29, 2018.
