Girish Karnad was an Indian actor, film director, Kannada writer, playwright and a Jnanpith awardee, who predominantly worked in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi films. His rise as a playwright in the 1960s marked the coming of age of modern Indian playwriting in Kannada, just as Badal Sarkar did in Bengali, Vijay Tendulkar in Marathi, and Mohan Rakesh in Hindi. He was a recipient of the 1998 Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour conferred in India.
Kalyug is a 1981 Indian Hindi-language crime drama film, directed by Shyam Benegal. It is known as a modern-day adaptation of the Indian epic Mahabharat, depicting an archetypal conflict between rival business houses. Kalyug went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Film in 1982 and was among the only three Indian films which were submitted to the Academy Awards. The film also went in Berlin International Film Festival for best screenplay and Shashi Kapoor’s phenomenal acting who played the central role of Karna in the epic film was also praised.
Mazhar Khan was an Indian film and television actor, producer and director. Khan made his debut with the film Sampark (1979), playing the role of Brindavan, but was better acclaimed for his role as Abdul in Shaan (1980), as a street beggar. He made his debut as a producer with the film Bombay Fantasy (1983), and made his directorial debut with the film Gang (2000), released after Khan's death in 1998.
Raja Babu is a 1994 Indian Hindi-language melodrama comedy film directed by David Dhawan. It stars Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Aruna Irani, Prem Chopra and Gulshan Grover, with music by Anand–Milind and lyrics by Sameer. The film was inspired from the 1992 Tamil film Rasukutty.
Aasha (transl. Hope) is a 1980 Indian Hindi-language drama film, produced and directed by J. Om Prakash under the Filmyug Pvt. Ltd. banner. It stars Jeetendra, Reena Roy, Rameshwari and music composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The film is recorded as a "Blockbuster" at the box office. It was remade in Telugu as Anuraga Devatha (1982), in Tamil as Sumangali (1983) and in Bengali as Mandira (1990).
Utsav is a 1984 Hindi erotic drama film, produced by Shashi Kapoor and directed by Girish Karnad. The film is based on play Mrichakatika by Śūdraka. It was filmed in Hindi and English simultaneously, the post-production work of latter version was done in London.
K. M. Chaitanya is a film director, documentary maker and theater person. His first feature film Aa dinagalu in Kannada, won several awards including the Filmfare Awards South for Best Director and Best Feature Film in 2007. Chaitanya also won awards for Best Debutant Director by the South Indian Cinematographers' Association, Chennai Film Fans Association and Raghavendra Chitravani Award. Aa Dinagalu was listed by The Week among the top 10 Indian films of 2007. Chaitanya studied Journalism at Christ College.

The story follows the last days as well as the historic moments in the life of the Ruler of Mysore, Tipu Sultan, (1750–1799) through the eyes of an Indian court historian and a British Oriental scholar.
Ahista Ahista is a Hindi-language film released in October, 1981. The film stars Shammi Kapoor, Nanda, Kunal Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, Shashikala, Ashalata Wabgaonkar and Rehman. It is a remake of the Kannada film Gejje Pooje.

Dinesh Thakur was an Indian theatre director, actor in theatre, television and Hindi film, where most notably he appeared as one of the leads in Rajnigandha 1974 and directed by Basu Chatterjee, which won both Filmfare Best Movie Award and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie. Dinesh Thakur was born in 1947 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He was the founder-director of ANK productions, a Mumbai-based theatre company, established in 1976.
Zamana (transl. Times) is a 1985 Indian Hindi-language film, directed by Ramesh Talwar, it stars Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Ranjeeta, along with Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Om Puri, Girish Karnad, Avtar Gill, Mac Mohan, Satyendra Kapoor form the supporting cast.

Anna: Kisan Baburao Hazare is an Indian biographical film, directed and written by Shashank Udapurkar. It is based on the life of Indian social activist Anna Hazare. Shashank Udapurkar, director of the film, himself would be playing the titular character. The film also stars Tanishaa Mukerji, Govind Namdev, Sharat Saxena, Kishor Kadam, Daya Shankar Pandey, Ankit (Sourabh) Sharma in supporting roles. The film was released on 14 October 2016.
