Prathivadi Bhayankara Sreenivas was an Indian playback singer and lyricist who has sung predominantly in Kannada and other languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Tulu, Konkani and Hindi.
Kothamangalam Subbu was an Indian poet, lyricist, author, actor and film director based in Tamil Nadu. He wrote the cult classic Tamil novel Thillana Mohanambal and was awarded the Padma Shri. According to novelist Ashokamitran's memoirs, Subbu functioned as the No. 2 of the giant Gemini Studios of Chennai, South India for over three decades and was a close associate of movie mogul S. S. Subbu also starred in the film alongside Pushpavalli and M. S. Sundari Bai. Javar Seetharaman and Gemini Ganesan made their acting debuts in the film appearing in minor supporting roles. The film focuses on Malini (Pushpavalli), an impoverished woman who joins her actress friend Sundari's theatre company Kala Mandhiram and becomes a success. Things take a turn for the worse when she befriends a charlatan named Sampath.
Thodi Kodallu (transl. Daughters-in-law) is a 1957 Indian Telugu-language drama film directed and edited by Adurthi Subba Rao who co-wrote the script with D. Madhusudhana Rao and Acharya Atreya. Madhusudhana Rao produced the film under Annapurna Pictures. It stars Savitri and Akkineni Nageswara Rao with music composed by Master Venu. The film is based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Bengali novel Nishkriti, and was simultaneously made as the Tamil film Engal Veettu Mahalakshmi (1957); both films were made simultaneously by the same banner and director, and some of the scenes and artists are the same in both versions. Thodi Kodallu won the Certificate of merit for Best Feature Film in Telugu.

Thoongaa Vanam is a 2015 Indian action thriller film directed by Rajesh M. Selva. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj, Trisha, Kishore, Sampath Raj, and Yugi Sethu, while Aman Abdullah, Asha Sharath, Madhu Shalini, and Jagan play supporting roles. It is filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu languages, the latter titled Cheekati Rajyam. Both versions were produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Sri Gokulam Movies. The film is a remake of the French film Nuit Blanche (2011). Thoongaa Vanam was released on 10 November 2015 coinciding with Diwali while the Telugu version Cheekati Rajyam was released on 20 November 2015. The film received positive reviews from critics.
Mr. Sampat is a 1952 Indian Hindi-language satirical film produced and directed by S. S. Vasan of Gemini Studios. It is based on R. K. Narayan's 1949 novel Mr. Sampath – The Printer of Malgudi, and the Tamil film Miss Malini (1947). The film revolves around the title character (Motilal), a con artist who manipulates a theatre actress (Padmini) and a ghee merchant (Kanhaiyalal) for his own benefits. Mr. Sampat was released on 25 December 1952. Although Motilal received rave reviews for his performance, the film was a commercial failure.

The film is based on Onbathu Kuzhi, a village game that involves marbles. Balaji Maharaja plays a man who is an expert at the game while Nikhila Vimal portrays a village woman. Nikhila Vimal shot for this film while shooting for Vetrivel and Kidaari. The film released on Regal Talkies, a TVOD app. on 15 August 2020. This is the first Tamil feature film to be telecast on a pay-per-view model.
