The Saskatchewan Amateur Men's Golf Championship is an annual men's provincial golf championship sanctioned by Golf Saskatchewan.
The championship has been held since 1908. The annual champion is awarded the James Balfour Trophy, named after the former mayor of Regina, James Balfour. The top three competitors earn the opportunity to represent Saskatchewan in the Willingdon Cup team championship, while competing at the Canadian Amateur Championship.

The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews is the oldest golf club in the world. It is based in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom and is regarded as the worldwide "Home of Golf". Formerly, it was also one of the governing authorities of the game, but this role was handed over to The R&A.

Prince's Golf Club, Sandwich is a links golf course located in Sandwich in Kent in South East England. Prince's is immediately adjacent to the more famous Royal St George's golf club, and both clubs lie on the same stretch of coastline as nearby Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. It is notable for hosting the 1932 Open Championship.

England Golf is the governing body for male and female amateur golf in England. It represents over 1,900 golf clubs with over 740,000 members and is affiliated to The R&A, the joint global governing body of golf. Stan Leonard was a Canadian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1950s and 1960s. Leonard won three PGA Tour events, eight Canadian PGA Championships, and 16 other events on the Canadian Tour. He is a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.
The World Amateur Golf Ranking for men was introduced by The R&A, the governing body of the sport of golf outside the United States and Mexico, on 23 January 2007. It is based on the results of over 2,600 amateur tournaments per year and is updated each Wednesday. Rankings are based on the players' average performances in counting events over a rolling period. This period was 52 weeks initially but was gradually expanded during 2016 to 104 weeks, similar to those of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Niakwa Country Club is a country club and golf course in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The 18-hole course was designed in 1923 by Stanley Thompson, the one of the most internationally recognised Canadian golf course architects.
Leslie Balfour-Melville, born Leslie Balfour, was a Scottish amateur sportsman, serving as captain, opening batsman, and wicket-keeper for the Scotland national cricket team.
Sport in Saskatchewan includes ice skating, speed skating, curling, curling bonspiels, snowboarding, snow golf, broomball, ice hockey, badminton, and curling. Summer sports abound: among these are school track and field days, community rodeos, golf tournaments, and sporting events such as baseball, softball, and snowmobile, snowmobile rallies. School teams usually feature baseball, basketball, field hockey, Association football or soccer, lacrosse, football, rugby, and wrestling. Popular individual sports include auto racing, boxing, cycling, golf, hiking, horse racing, ice skating, skateboarding, skiing, swimming, tennis, triathlon, track and field, and water sports. Other sports include tobogganing, sailing, rowing, trap shooting, lawn bowling, and horseshoe. Saskatchewan speed skaters have enjoyed recent success in the Olympics in Salt Lake City and Turin. The Saskatchewan Olympic medalists include Catriona Le May Doan, Jason Parker and Justin Warsylewicz.
The Canadian Amateur Championship, begun in 1895, is the men's amateur golf championship of Canada. It is staged annually by Golf Canada. It was played at match play until 1968, went to stroke play beginning in 1969, and reverted to match play in 1995. It then returned to stroke play in 2008.
The Florida Gators men's golf team represents the University of Florida in the sport of golf. The Gators compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They play their home matches on the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus, and are currently led by head coach J. C. Deacon. In the eighty-nine-year history of the Gators' men's golf program, they have won fifteen SEC championships and four NCAA national tournament championships.
James Balfour, was an educator, lawyer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He served as mayor of Regina, Saskatchewan in 1915 and 1931.
The U.S. Women's Amateur is the leading golf tournament in the United States for female amateur golfers. It is played annually and is one of the 13 United States national golf championships organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Female amateurs from all nations are eligible to compete and there are no age restrictions. It was established in 1895, one month after the men's U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open. It is the third oldest USGA championship, over a half century older than the U.S. Women's Open, which was first played in 1946. Along with the British Ladies Amateur, the U.S. Women's Amateur is considered the highest honor in women's amateur golf.
Golf Saskatchewan is the provincial amateur governing body for the sport of golf in the province of Saskatchewan. The organization is a member of Golf Canada, the national sport governing body. Golf Saskatchewan is overseen by an elected board of directors from across Saskatchewan.

The European Ladies Amateur Championship is an annual amateur golf tournament. Up to 2015 it was called the International European Ladies Amateur Championship. It is organized by the European Golf Association and was first played in 1986. It is one of the "elite" tournaments in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The analogous tournament for men is the European Amateur.
The England–Scotland Amateur Match was an annual men's amateur golf competition between teams representing England and Scotland. It was played from 1902 to 1931, although the match lapsed between 1913 and 1921. The match continued after 1931 but as part of the Men's Home Internationals in which Ireland and Wales also competed. Until 1931 it was played in connection with the Amateur Championship, on the Saturday either before or after the championship.
