The Sawa-i-Lau Caves are a limestone cave system located on Sawa-i-Lau Island in the northern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. [1] Formed by natural erosion, the caves are partially submerged and contain clear, turquoise seawater. The main chamber features a dome-shaped ceiling that rises approximately 15 meters (49 feet) above the water surface and is illuminated by a natural opening in the roof. [2] [3] Access to this chamber is by swimming through a narrow entrance. A second interior chamber, located beyond an underwater passage, [4] [5] measures approximately 20 meters (66 feet) in length and has a lower ceiling. [2]
