Sea Lion was a 2-foot gauge battery-electric locomotive built by Wingrove & Rogers in 1921 as works no. 313 for the Groudle Glen Railway on the Isle of Man. Together with its sister, Polar Bear , it was intended that they would replace Sea Lion , and Polar Bear , two Bagnall steam locomotivess of the same names. However, the battery locomotives were not hugely successful, with Sea Lion being scrapped in 1922 following an incident where it fell down the side of the Groudle Glen.
It has been proposed to build a replica Sea Lion at the Amberley Museum Railway, home of Polar Bear , using the frames of 1953-built Wingrove & Rogers loco no. 5031, which has been used at Amberley as a spares donor. The replica would be built initially as a static exhibit, with the potential for it to be made operational.
Amberley Museum is an open-air industrial heritage museum at Amberley, near Arundel in West Sussex, England. The museum is owned and operated by Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre, a not-for-profit company and registered charity, and has the support of an active Friends organisation. The items in the Museums collection are held by The Amberley Museum Trust

Wingrove & Rogers Ltd of Kirkby, Liverpool, England, was formed in 1919 by Major Charles William Wingrove M.C. (1889-1976) and William Rogers (b1891) to manufacture control gear for electric vehicles. In the 1920s they diversified into variable capacitors, the components essential for tuning in the front end of radio receivers which they continued through the Second World War during which they supplied the armed forces. In 1926 they amalgamated with British Electric Vehicles Ltd, and moved the electric vehicle production from Southport to Liverpool where they made vehicles such as electrically motorised trolleys and electric locomotives, largely for use in factories, mines, and by tunnelling contractors.
The Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters' Association Ltd (IoMSRSA) is a railway preservationist group dedicated to ensuring the continued operation of the Isle of Man Railway on the Isle of Man. Since its inception in 1966 the group has provided volunteer workers, acted in a watchdog role and undertaken the restoration of the Groudle Glen Railway on the island, as well as supporting projects on the railway and producing the journal, Manx Steam Railway News.

The Brockham Railway Museum was a 2 ft narrow gauge railway based at the site of the Brockham Limeworks, near Dorking, Surrey. When it closed in 1982, the majority of the collection was moved to the Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre where it formed the nucleus of the Amberley Museum Railway.
