Sege is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Sege is located in the Dangme East district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

The Parliament of Ghana is the legislative body of the Government of Ghana.

Dangme East District

The Dangme East District was one of the ten (10) districts in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, until the district was dissolved in 2012 by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 2029 and Ada West District and Ada East District were carved out from it. It used to cover a surface of 909 km². Major Towns in the district were Big Ada and Ada Kasseh. Ada Foah, which was the district capital, is located at the beach and river estuary. Most of the inhabitants (85.9%) belonged to the cultural group of the Dangme. It had a population of 71,671.

Greater Accra Region Region in Ghana

The Greater Accra Region has the smallest area of Ghana's 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 3,245 square kilometres. This is 1.4 per cent of the total land area of Ghana. It is the second most populated region, after the Ashanti Region, with a population of 4,010,054 in 2010, accounting for 16.3 per cent of Ghana's total population.

Boundaries

The seat is located within the Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It was formed prior to the 2004 December presidential and parliamentary elections by the division of the old Ada constituency into the new Sege and Ada constituencies. [1]
