The Seven Deadly Sins is a Japanese fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. It was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October 2012 to March 2020, with the chapters collected into 41 tankōbon volumes. Featuring a setting similar to the European Middle Ages, the story follows a titular group of knights representing the seven deadly sins. The manga has been licensed by Kodansha USA for English publication in North America, while the chapters were released digitally by Crunchyroll in over 170 countries as they were published in Japan.

Kinji Yoshimoto 27 February 1966 – 5 November 2021 was a Japanese animator, producer, writer and director. Some of his major works include Megazone 23 and Plastic Little. He also directed several of the Queen's Blade anime series, as well as anime adaptations for I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job and Unbreakable Machine-Doll, and is known for his manga and anime productions with manga artist Satoshi Urushihara. The two along with Yoshihiro Kimura created their own production company called Earthwork. Yoshimoto died on 5 November 2021.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War is a four-part anime television special that features an original story written by Nakaba Suzuki, author of The Seven Deadly Sins manga series for which the anime is based on. The special anime was confirmed on September 27, 2015 and began airing on August 28, 2016 on MBS and TBS. The special was licensed by Netflix and released on the platform on February 17, 2017. The special was produced by A-1 Pictures, directed by Tomokazu Tokoro, and written by Yuniko Ayana and Yuichiro Kido, featuring character designs by Keigo Sasaki. The music was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano and Takafumi Wada. The opening theme song is "Classic" by Mucc and the ending theme song is "Iroasenai Hitomi" (色褪せない瞳) by Alisa Takigawa. A commercial following the final episode of the special confirmed a second season of the anime had been green-lit, which later aired in 2018 under the title The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of The Gods, subtitle also known simply as Wrath of The Gods, is the third season of The Seven Deadly Sins anime television series, which is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. The season was animated by Studio Deen instead of A-1 Pictures and premiered on October 9, 2019. Susumu Nishizawa and Rintarō Ikeda replaced Takeshi Furuta and Takao Yoshioka as director and series composer respectively, with Hiroyuki Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto, and Takafumi Wada returning to reprise their roles as the music composers. The series was broadcast on TV Tokyo and BS TV Tokyo. The season was released on Netflix in licensed markets on August 6, 2020 as "Imperial Wrath of The Gods".
