Brothers Rob and John Wright formed Nomeansno as a two-piece band in 1979, initially making home recordings and then performing live as a duo. Guitarist Andy Kerr joined in 1983, and the band became a fixture of the British Columbia punk scene before embarking on extensive North American touring.
Their first release as a three-piece band was the You Kill Me EP on Undergrowth Records. This was followed thereafter by the Sex Mad album, issued initially on Psyche Industry Records. The band attracted the attention of Alternative Tentacles, who signed them and issued Sex Mad on LP in the United States and Europe. In 1991, Alternative Tentacles released both records on compact disc together as the Sex Mad/You Kill Me compilation album, with international distribution from Cargo Records. The new edition was remixed by long-time Nomeansno producer Cecil English in Profile Studios in Vancouver.
In 2002, Nomeansno bought the rights to their back catalogue, [1] reissuing their albums on their own Wrong Records imprint with distribution from Southern Records. Neither Sex Mad nor You Kill Me, however, has been reissued during this process.

As a single disc showcasing the musical prowess of the burgeoning trio, the compilation was received well by critics. Writing for AllMusic, Ned Raggett writes that "Sex Mad/You Kill Me makes for an edgy, thrashing release that shows the Canadians fully in charge of a frenetic post-punk style seemingly left for dead by many in the late '80s." Raggett awards the disc four out of five stars.

Nomeansno was a Canadian punk rock band formed in Victoria, British Columbia, and later relocated to Vancouver. They released 11 albums, including a collaborative album with Jello Biafra, and numerous EPs and singles. Critic Martin Popoff described their music as "the mightiest merger between the hateful aggression of punk and the discipline of heavy metal." Nomeansno's distinct hardcore punk sound, complex instrumentation, and dark, "savagely intelligent" lyrics inspired subsequent musicians. They were a formative influence on punk jazz, post-hardcore, math rock, and emo.
The Black Album is the fourth studio album by English punk rock band the Damned, and the first to feature Paul Gray on bass guitar. It was released on 3 November 1980 by Chiswick as a double album, with "Curtain Call" filling the whole of side 3, and a selection of live tracks recorded at Shepperton Studios at a special concert for Damned fan club members on side 4. The album peaked at No. 29 on the UK Charts.
Sex Mad is the second full-length album by Canadian punk rock band NoMeansNo. Released in 1986, it is the first Nomeansno LP to feature long-time guitarist Andy Kerr in addition to founding members Rob Wright and John Wright and the first Nomeansno album issued through Alternative Tentacles.
All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt is the tenth and final studio album by Vancouver punk rock band Nomeansno. It was released by the band's own Wrong Records imprint, in conjunction with AntAcidAudio in North America and Southern Records in Europe, making it their first record not to be released by the Alternative Tentacles imprint since Mama in 1982. The album marked a return to shorter and more conventional songs than their previous efforts, Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie (1998) and One (2000).
The Sky Is Falling and I Want My Mommy is an album recorded by Jello Biafra with the Canadian punk band Nomeansno. The project came about after Nomeansno and Biafra had collaborated for the soundtrack to the underground film Terminal City Ricochet. The title track is a new recording of "Falling Space Junk" with amended lyrics. Jello wrote the lyrics to "Bruce's Diary" from the perspective of his Ricochet character Bruce Coddle, but did so after the movie was released, so the song is only featured on this album.
Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy? is the sixth full-length album by Vancouver punk rock group Nomeansno. Andy Kerr is a Canadian-born musician, originally from British Columbia and currently residing in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He has also recorded and performed as a solo artist, and his current group is Two Pin Din.

Recording during the band's 1996 European tour, it was the first release in the In the Fishtank series, in which the Netherlands-based De Konkurrent label provided bands with two days of studio recording time and released the final results.
"Dad/Revenge" is a single by Canadian punk rock band Nomeansno. Recorded in 1985, it features two tracks from Nomeansno's 1986 album Sex Mad. "Dad" was a minor college radio hit.
