Shahen Gevorki Khachatryan (born September 28, 1934, Aleppo) is an Armenian art expert. He is the founding director of the Arshile Gorky Museum in Etchmiadzin.
In 1946, his family moved to Soviet Armenia. Khachatrian finished the Repin Institute of Arts. In 1967 Martiros Sarian appointed Khachatrian as the head of his museum. He directed the Martiros Sarian Museum for over 40 years. In 1991, Shahen Khachatrian also was appointed the head of National Gallery of Armenia. He enriched the gallery's collection with about 500 pieces purchased and collected from different countries and Armenian Diaspora. He led the gallery for 13 years.
Khachatrian published books dedicated to Sarian, Hakobian, Minas and Ayvazovski. He organized 60 exhibitions.

Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky was a Russian-Armenian Romantic painter who is considered one of the greatest masters of marine art. Baptized as Hovhannes Aivazian, he was born into an Armenian family in the Black Sea port of Feodosia in Crimea and was mostly based there.
Aleksandr Abramovich Kamensky (1922–1992) was a Soviet art critic and art historian. In 1954 he wrote an important article attacking the art establishment under Stalin. he argued that artistic merit needed to be valued over ideological correctness. He would go on to write about and champion the works of artists such as Marc Chagall, and Martiros Saryan.

The NGA houses significant collections of Russian and Western European art, and the world's largest collection of Armenian art. The museum had 65,000 visitors in 2005.

Paruyr Arshaviri Hayrikyan is an Armenian politician and former Soviet dissident. He was an early member and leader of the National United Party (NUP), which sought Armenia's independence from the Soviet Union. He spent a total of about 18 years in Soviet correctional facilities for his dissident activities and was eventually expelled from the Soviet Union in 1988, although he was allowed to return two years later. Since Armenia gained its independence in 1991, Hayrikyan has been active in Armenian politics as the leader of the Union for National Self-Determination, the successor party to the NUP, and took part in presidential elections in 1991 and 2013, surviving an assassination attempt during the latter. He is also a writer and accomplished composer, having authored several popular patriotic Armenian songs.
Artasyrus was recorded as being the Satrap of Armenia during the reign of king Artaxerxes II. Referred to as the "King's Eye", Artasyrus was of Bactrian origin. His more "well known" son, Orontes, who was therefore sometimes referred to as "Orontes the Bactrian", served as the Satrap of Sophene and Matiene (Mitanni) during the reign of Artaxerxes II. There appears to be confusion in the historical records as to whether Artasyrus and Artaxerxes II were the same person. The daughter of Artaxerxes II, Rhodogune, was the wife of the satrap Orontes I. There are few English language sources to fully explain who he was, when he was born or died.
The National United Party was an Armenian underground political party in the Soviet Union. It operated from 1966 until 1987, when it was renamed Union for National Self-Determination (UNSD), which became the first democratic party in the USSR.
Ashot Melkonian was an Armenian artist associated with Neorealistic artistic style and Honorary Artist of Armenia. He mainly devoted himself to landscape and portraits painting, as well as murals. He is one of the founders of Neorealism in Armenian art. Art critic Shahen Khachatrian referred to Melkonian as "an artist of the generation of the 1960s that provided a new impetus to the development of Armenian art. Reality is a characteristic feature of Ashot's art". Honorary artist of Armenia Hakob Hakobian referring to Melkonian wrote "a brilliant composer of scenes, an author of exquisite portraits and landscapes, a master of gentlest and subtlest painting ... Melkonian is the pride of our painting school." According to art critic L.S. Zinger (Moscow), Melkonian's art is "a mix of humanistic tradition and his Armenian outlook."

Gagik Gurgeni Khachatryan is an Armenian politician who held various positions in Armenia's state bureaucracy, notably serving as chairman of the State Revenue Committee from 2008 to 2014 and minister of finance from 2014 to 2016. He was popularly known as the "super minister" due to his numerous responsibilities. He is currently the defendant in a corruption-related criminal case in Armenia.
