Urmia or Orumiyeh is the largest city in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran and the capital of Urmia County. This dry spell was broken in 2019 and the lake is now filling up once again. The recovery of the lake has continued in 2020 due to above average precipitation and the actions of the Lake Urmia Restoration Program.
