Urmia or Orumiyeh is the largest city in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran and the capital of Urmia County. It is situated at an altitude of 1,330 metres (4,360 ft) above sea level, and is located along the Shahar River on the Urmia Plain. Lake Urmia, one of the world's largest salt lakes, lies to the east of the city, and the mountainous Turkish border area lies to the west.
Lake Urmia is an endorheic salt lake in Iran. The lake is located between the provinces of East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan in Iran, and west of the southern portion of the Caspian Sea. At its greatest extent, it was the largest lake in the Middle East and the sixth-largest saltwater lake on Earth, with a surface area of approximately 5,200 km2 (2,000 sq mi), a length of 140 km (87 mi), a width of 55 km (34 mi), and a maximum depth of 16 m (52 ft). By late 2017, the lake had shrunk to 10% of its former size due to persistent general drought in Iran, but also the damming of the local rivers that flow into it, and the pumping of groundwater from the surrounding area. This dry spell was broken in 2019 and the lake is now filling up once again. The recovery of the lake has continued in 2020 due to above average precipitation and the actions of the Lake Urmia Restoration Program.
Sumay-ye Beradust District is a district (bakhsh) in Urmia County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. It is west of Lake Urmia, between the city of Urmia and the border with Turkey. Its administrative seat is the town of Serow. At the 2006 census, its population was 39,802, in 6,760 families. The District has one city: Serow. The District has three rural districts (dehestan): Beradust Rural District, Sumay-ye Jonubi Rural District, and Sumay-ye Shomali Rural District.

Mir Saeid Marouf Lakerani is an Iranian volleyball setter. He is the captain of the Iranian national team. He was named best setter at the 2014 World League and 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic qualifying tournaments, as well as most valuable player at the 2013 Asian Championship. He participated in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. He was voted Iranian Sportsmen of the year for (2015–16) of the Iranian calendar by an Iranian TV.
