Yorubaland is the homeland and cultural region of the Yoruba people in West Africa. It spans the modern-day countries of Nigeria, Togo and Benin, and covers a total land area of 142,114 km2 (54,871 sq mi). Of this land area, 106,016 km2 (74.6%) lies within Nigeria, 18.9% in Benin, and the remaining 6.5% is in Togo. Prior to European colonization, a portion of this area was known as Yoruba country. The geo-cultural space contains an estimated 55 million people, the majority of this population being ethnic Yoruba.

Okanle is a village in Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State, Nigeria. The Okanle Village Area Council was established in 1956 with other seven villages that included Fajeromi, Irapa, Basanyin, Arugbo, Surulere, Amberi. Okanle and Fajeromi are both located in Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State. Okanle is less than 2 km away from Fajeromi. The villages are about 30 km from Ilorin along Offa/Ajase Ipo Road and exactly 6 km from Idofian town. Although a number of people engage in buying and selling as well as craftsmanship farming remains the primary source of livelihood. Household income is usually generated from farm produce as well as buying and selling. The communities are rich in forest resources hence the majority of the people derive their livelihood from the forests through hunting and farming. Apart from providing sources of income to the local people, forest resources are also used to maintain wellbeing, which are readily available in their natural forms. Knowledge about local medicines is usually handed down from generation to generation in oral form.
The Okun people are a Yoruba speaking people found majorly in Kogi, but with settlements in Kwara, Ekiti, and Ondo states of Nigeria. Their dialects are generally classified in the Northeast Yoruba language (NEY) grouping. They are collectively called "Okun", which in Okun dialects could mean "Sorry", "Well-done", or as an all-encompassing greeting. Similarly, this form of greeting is also found among the Ekiti and Igbomina groups of Yoruba people. It is also a mode of greeting among the Ijesa people of southwestern Nigeria.
Fausat Balogun is a Nigerian actress who stars majorly in Yoruba movies. She starred as Mama Saje in a 1990 television series titled Erin Kee Kee. Fausat has starred in over 80 movies.
Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim was a Nigerian politician who was a senator from Kwara State. He represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly. Senator Ibrahim was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, and also a member of Senate Committees on Appropriation, Federal Character and Inter Government Affairs, and Media and Public Affairs.
Saheed Adekeye Olalekan Popoola born is a Nigerian politician and architect. He was a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, representing the Ojomu/Balogun Constituency. He previously served as executive chairman of the Offa within the Kwara State of Nigeria.
