Korean is a Koreanic language spoken by about 80 million people, mainly Korean, as of 2020. It is the official and national language of both North Korea and South Korea, with different standardized official forms used in each country. It is a recognised minority language in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and Changbai Korean Autonomous County of Jilin Province, China. It is also spoken in parts of Sakhalin, Russia and Central Asia.

The South Korea national football team represents South Korea in men's international football and is governed by the Korea Football Association. South Korea has developed and emerged as a major football power in Asia since the 1980s and is historically the most successful Asian football team, having participated in nine consecutive and ten overall FIFA World Cup tournaments, the most for any Asian country. Despite initially going through five World Cup tournaments without winning a match, South Korea became the only Asian team to reach the semi-final stages when they co-hosted the 2002 tournament with Japan. South Korea also won two AFC Asian Cup titles, and finished as runners-up on four occasions. Furthermore, the team won three gold medals and three silver medals at the senior Asian Games. The team is commonly nicknamed the "Reds" by both fans and the media due to the color of their primary kit. The national team's supporting group is officially referred to as the Red Devils.
Suwon Samsung Bluewings is a South Korean football club based in Suwon, South Korea, that plays in the K League 1. Founded in December 1995, they have won the national championship on four occasions, and the Asian Club Championship twice.
Seongnam FC is a South Korean professional football club based in Seongnam, South Korea. Seongnam plays in the K League 1, the top division in South Korea. Founded as Ilhwa Chunma Football Club in 1989, the club has won seven national league titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups, and two AFC Champions League titles. Seongnam also placed fifth in the IFFHS Asian Clubs of the 20th century.
Jeonnam Dragons is a professional football/ soccer club based in the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, South Korea, that currently plays in K League 2, the second tier of Korean football. Jeonnam play at the Gwangyang Football Stadium, nicknamed the “Dragon Dungeon”, one of the first football-specific stadiums built in South Korea. The Dragons have won the FA Cup four times in 1997, 2006, 2007 and 2021, the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, and have finished runner up in the league once, in 1997. The club’s color is yellow, matching the dragon on the club’s crest.
Lee Woon-jae is a South Korean former football goalkeeper. He was part of South Korea's 1994, 2002, 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup campaigns. He was the only Asian player nominated for the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper of the 21st Century (2001–2011).
The Korean Super Cup was the annual curtain-raiser to the South Korean football season from 1999 to 2006, and was contested between the champions of K League and Korean FA Cup. It was dropped from the South Korean football calendar in 2007. After that, champions of K League 1 and Korean FA Cup are often scheduled to play each other at the opening match of K League 1 next season. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors is the only club to have lifted the Super Cup trophy among the champions of FA Cup.
Koryo-saram is the name which ethnic Koreans in the post-Soviet states use to refer to themselves. The term is composed of two Korean words: "Koryo", a historical name for Korea, and "saram", meaning "person" or "people".
Kim Joo-sung is a former South Korean football player. Kim is regarded as one of the greatest Asian footballers of the 20th century. He was nominated for the IFFHS Asia's Player of the Century, finishing second place.
The South Korea national under-23 football team represents South Korea at football in the Olympic Games and Asian Games. It was founded when the Olympic football was changed to an under-23 competition, and is also managed as under-21 or under-22 team when not playing in major competitions.
The Mnet Asian Music Awards is a major music awards ceremony presented annually by entertainment company CJ E&M. First held in South Korea, the majority of prizes has been won by K-pop artists, although there are other Asian artistes winning in various award categories, such as for Best Asian Artist and other professional-related awards.
Inkigayo is a South Korean music program broadcast by SBS. It airs live every Sunday. The show features some of the latest and most popular artists who perform on stage. It is broadcast from the SBS Open Hall in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
Koreanic is a small language family consisting of Korean and the Jeju language. The latter is often described as a dialect of Korean, but is distinct enough to be considered a separate language. A few scholars suggest that the Yukchin dialect of the far northeast should be similarly distinguished. Korean has been richly documented since the introduction of the Hangul alphabet in the 15th century. Earlier renditions of Korean using Chinese characters are much more difficult to interpret.
K League is South Korea's professional football league. It includes first division K League 1 and second division K League 2.
